The Bothan spies got the plans for the second Death Star, not the first one.

I agree with Serenity, this is the best Star Wars movie made to date. And by a significant margin in my opinion. There was nothing I didn't like in it and everything was executed skillfully. The only thing I found lacking at times was the music, but it is still an amazing achievement from Michael Giacchino who had only four weeks to score the whole film after Alexandre Desplat walked out.

Even better than they include a main character from episode IV that has been dead for almost 30 years (peter Cushing). Yes cgi but I was still impressed. And to the Princess Leia hypothesis.....yes....not saying anymore.

I genuinely couldn't tell who was CGI and who wasn't. (There were actually quite a few apparently). It's both amazing and terrifying!

Of the human characters I think only Tarkin and Leia were CGI, but short of necromancy they were done as good as current technology allows. The rest of the cameos from earlier films (mostly X/Y-wing pilots) were outtakes from those earlier films digitally integrated into the new scenes. However I was genuinely disappointed that they didn't include the three female pilots who were cut out from the original films. Perhaps there was no quality film stock left of them... It would have been great of Disney to undo that disservice.

That was one of my quibbles I was going to save until later.  The music just didn't do the movie justice.  It felt like it needed to break out into the Alliance anthem or at least a remix of the most recognizable bits of it, but instead kept falling flat or seemingly deliberately avoiding it.  I then thought maybe they would save it for one of the climaxes at the end, it would have really worked, but it never happened.  And unfortunately in general the music was nowhere as inspired as the John Williams original.

Desplat scored the first cut of the film, but after Disney re-shot some scenes and made a new cut Desplat was otherwise engaged. So Giacchino had to step in with only four weeks to get everything done.

Meh! Not a bad flick but the magic is gone and Im going to hang up my Darth Vader costume for the duration.

Same for Star Trek, I didnt even see the last one. Looking forward to new seas of The Expanse. Now thats some original Sci Fi and not re-heated meat Loaf from the micro wave.

0/T a bit - Rich, the creators of the Expanse did an interview on the Tested YT channel, really great video.  Also, both authors of the books post over at GRRM's Westeros.org in the Literature forum, lots of great threads/discussions with them about their space tech and vision in the books there if you're interested in behind the scenes stuff about the series and TV program.  The trailers for season 2 look great as well.

Mrs Zoney and I will be going to see Rogue One Christmas eve and I am looking forward to it.  I expect movies like this to be fun and entertaining.  I'm likely to not be disappointed.

I expect much more from the new Blade Runner movie.  They had better not screw it up.  The original is my favorite SciFi movie of all time.

They always screw up remakes of our classics. There are not really any stars anymore. They call most anyone a star today.......but no real ones left.
