9AM, it's still very dark in the AH World.
« on: December 16, 2016, 11:50:28 AM »
I was just in the main arena, it's 9:AM by the clock but with no cloud cover, it's way to dark for 9AM. Or is this going to be the way it is?

It's realistic. It's dark all day unless the sky is clear in which case there's light for a couple of hours. And it's getting even darker until next Wednesday.

Do enough offline testing and you will notice the moon follows the continental US real moon phases. And the sun light strength and duration seems to also. Offline and in the terrain editor I'm constantly having to rest time to noon to get the most light on the subject.

Get real, I'm talking about the game world of AH, it's always been very gloomy but with AH3 in this arena and map it is very dark for a game time of 9AM with no cloud cover.

I'm talking about the game time clock of 9AM with no cloud cover and it's still very dark.  It's built into the map as I understand it.  AH world have always been on the dark side of things but this map appears to me to be very dark.  So to me it's anything but realistic.  With no cloud cover at 9AM it's pretty bright.

With AH3, a terrain can be built with Lat/Long coordinates. Coupled with setting the month/day/year in arena settings, the Sun, Moon and star positions should be pretty accurate.

Not saying that this explains what you're describing, but could be a contributing factor.

I understand night time and it does not last long. You might want to consider that maybe the battle could be in the artic where night can be at 9am. Its very close to winter time in America so the days are shorter.

You are so totally off the mark.  I am not describing night time, I said for the map time of 9AM it was not as bright as I"ve seen other maps at 9AM even with cloud cover.

That makes sense, we were flying over the Solomons in FSO - I pointed out the sun was sitting too low and in the Southern sky (should be high slightly north in the sky).

The default center of the terrain longitude/latitude is our office. This setting can be set per terrain in the terrain editor.

The date defaults to the current date and can be set to any real date via dot commands.

It does seem too dark in AH3, when the sun is still well above the horizon.

And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
