please fix dar bars

They are completely unreliable in performing their intended (I think) purpose.  Flying to a sector with little or no darbar, it magically grows, once in visual range of all the red guys at or above your altitude.

+1 we just don't have the population even at peek to have its current setup work.

(as it is now, its great if you have 400+ people flying, but we don't get that anymore )

Was going to post a similar wish. 

"just logging in for a quick fight, no dar bars, no fight, logged out."   I've been hearing this way too many times lately from older players and squaddies.   These guys should know better that you have to have a little patience to work out what is going on. 

They want on-going battles to jump into and it is very hard for them to do that when the localised dar bars are screwing with the real picture of what is airbourne.

Tweak it back to encourage and direct the fights.   Update rate instant,  range map wide.

I believe the crux of the issue is the range based sector counter.   For example a guy in the air near a fight will see full dar and someone in the tower on the other side of the map won't have the same. 

Going to an enemy base with no counter, then when you get close enough it pops to full with guys at 15k waiting.   Guys in the tower need to see it for what it is so they can plan their runs accordingly.  The current setup has added a little fog of war but we need to encourage the newer players that there is plenty of action.

Seems backwards.  You'd figure that guys in the tower would have the more "up-to-date" information, while guys on sortie would be the ones with "delayed info".    The delay, regardless, seems to be a bit too high judging from the suggestions and complaints on this.


All in all, it kind of feels like they are trying to nudge folks into flying together (team play) more than going out solo, judging by how the suggestions/complaints are going.  Most of them I see are from folks who tend to go solo (just from how they word it).

Might I suggest going out in a wing of 4 at minimum?

The problem cropped up towards the last couple of years of AH2 and has carried over to AH3.

I've been flying in the same sector and/or one sector over from a squady and mates in range and there are at least three different reports of the darbar. One still showed a large bar, one looked like two fighters in sector, and mine showed just one. I thought that maybe it had to do with some sort of update delay from the server between us, but sounds like it may be a different problem.

I always thought dar bars were a direct representation of aircraft in the grid (excluding those below radar level).  Why would it be anything else?

Why is not the known but the fact is that it does very.

If there is a variable that can be changed from the server side to reduce the delay/difference in dar bar data reporting to players across the field is also questionable till there is a more knowledgeable responce.

Mine has varied compared to my squadronmates at times.  I, too, figured it was server lag or something.  .

240 on tonight....pretty happy with that.

Dar bar seems to "age in" differently" for players...I'll call a dar bar, and my squaddie/wingie who is right besided me doesn't see it.....or vice versa.

I like the fact that you can see indications of activity in sectors....makes it pretty nice to find a fight.
