please fix dar bars

The dar bar should be a true representation of the number of aircraft in the air.  Promote fights.

We don't have enough "mega missions" from deep friendly territory to worry about "giving" it away to the other sides, so why not true dar bar?

I have witnessed all of the problems mentioned above, more times than I can remember.

If we can click on an enemy field and know so much about it.............. why not also be told how many players are currently "inplay" from that field. The facility could be configured through arena settings fro scenarios etc.

Data is already in the system.

What it always looked like to me when squaddies and I had disparities between what we were seeing on bardar is for some reason I was not getting the bar dar because I was too far away.  Once I got my plane close enough (it felt like it might've been 10k, which if memory serves is dot distance or when things actually start to exist on my client) suddenly my bardar would sync up and all would be good.

Yet at other times such as upon login, you appear to get bar dar from all around the map regardless of proximity.

If it's working as intended and somehow supposed to be a "fog of war" thing personally I think that's not a good way to do it.  It should show what's in the air that meets the conditions that should result in bar dar map wide.

Lately I've watched my squad mates from the tower reporting they are in the thick of a furball at a base 20k to the deck. I will only see their squad colored tiny planes on the map at that location. But, I will also see a conga line of green tiny icons between them and the nearest friendly field. Until I got within icon range of my squad mates I never had any enemy red dar on my map. I'm seeing a lot of this lately.

Something like that could easily fool just logged in players to think there was no action on the map and help them decide to go watch dancing with the stars. Our numbers are still low enough, fog of war may be helping dancing with the stars gain new viewers.

I flew NOE to a friendly strat hoping to surprise a tank as there was no dar bar.

I get there and find two P47s that have been there for 10 minutes.

Of course, they bail as I arrive.

Dar bars now are completely unreliable. Can't find a fight on some nights.

No darbar, base starts flashing, nothing on Dar, thinking NOE.  Take off expecting to see low buffs and I start salivating.  What do I see?  15K buffs...   

Not sure if a bug or a feature, but we at least should hear some sort of official word.. If I missed it sorry, but all I have heard so far is crickets.

The problem cropped up towards the last couple of years of AH2 and has carried over to AH3.

Yea I don't remember having a problem with darbar years ago...now I'll run into 5 cons co alt without a darbar even popping.

I can remember it as far back as the Titanic Tuesday days.  I specifically remember a TT which might've been the first time I noticed it being unreliable.

The flakiness has been around a while.

I'm guessing it was to add some "fog of war" but HT will have to comment on exactly what change was made and his thinking behind it.  I don't recall it ever being in patch notes and it is an arena setting.  Hopefully not an oversight for the last 5 years

Nothing was changed intentionally.

I'll look over the system to see if I can spot the issue.

A few ahf files along with descriptions of what you saw would greatly aid the process.

Can we also get details as to how the dar bar works?

At what alt do you show up as an icon inside a radar circle, at what alt do you show up as a block on the dar bar?  How many planes per block of dar bar?

I believe I've got some old AH2 .ahf files from when I first noticed it.  I'll check tonight.

Just to make sure- Should bardar be map-wide always, regardless of the player's location?  I was always under the impression that was supposed to be the case, and that's what I noticed wasn't.
