On Sunday I think I sank 3 CV's and 4 cruisers using the PT boat.  The very best approach is from off the cruiser's starboard bow.  You won't sink much coming from behind the CV group, and there's very little room for error when coming from the sides.  I've always had great success coming from 5-10 degrees or so off the cruiser's bow.  Next attack I'll film it.  I set my boat's speed so the tip of the needle lines up with the upper edge of the white 40 knot tick mark on speedometer.  I like waiting until the boat starts shooting at me to release torps.

Like I said, I'll film the next one and try to post something.

I almost always approach from the side. I guess that's my problem. Thanks. Will be anxious to see your film. I'm not sure why but I\it's become an obsession.

B26s are excellent for cv killing. I haven't tried the tu2 for it yet as comparison. 26s climbs fast, and has good speed and acceleration once level. Same 500lb bomb load as a b17 and is a bit more durable. Now in AH2 it was one ship length per 10000 feet but I think it's slightly different in AH3 or I'm just not back to proper form after my hiatus. Defensively it's not as good as a 17 unless they are dumb enough to fly up your six.

Never tried a B26.  What I like about the TU2 is it has the fewer giant bombs so the damage is in a smaller area, alignment matters less and you won't get a partial hit generally.

I've found the very best CV killers on the Rook side to be anyone who takes command of the task force.  :O

In my opinion, Tu-2 is about the supreme CV killer since it's introduction. While it is quite weak defensive wise, due to the generally low altitude in cv bombing other bombers are almost as likely to die if a proper cap is place. The Tutu is very quick to get in and drop drop two big eggs on the CV and one on the CA. The 1000kg have a great balance of punch and damage radius, so you have a good chance of sinking both capital ships, often in a single approach.

The only thing more awesome to use as a CV killer is a formation of B-29s. Three times four 4k cookies... :devil

A really satisfying PT mission is sinking 2 cv and both cruisers..........and landing the mission.

Yes, it is possible.

When they're on autopilot. ;)
