Ability to "set" a zoom level
« on: January 02, 2017, 10:24:47 AM »
Yes I know you can toggle zoom and then zoom in and out at will.  Yes I know there is a default zoom view.

The problem is I like to fly with "zoom enabled" (but zoomed all the way out) due to the fact it gives me more visibility over my canopy bow than the zoom not enabled view, and the time it takes to zoom in and zoom out while in a fight gets a little frustrating (really just zooming back out).

So my wish list item is to be able to set your "default zoom" and save it and make it a toggle actuation.  So I'm flying around zoomed out, I get in a fight, go to shoot...hit "custom default zoom" button...zoom in...get a check six call and now I can hit my custom default zoom button again and toggle out to my "normal flying view".

Effectively I'm asking for the ability to save the default zoom view just like you can do it for the head positions.

I fly in normal view, but when I engage an enemy I add just a touch off zoom.
It would be nice to have a head/zoom position saved for quick access.

I have the zoom function linked to 3 buttons.  I set the zoom to what I want then hit the toggle zoom at will.

I have "analog input Field of view" mapped on a slider on the throttle, That way i can zoom in and out just by moving the slider.

You can always set a new custom mode to do exactly what you want.

Please let me know how I can make a custom mode  which will toggle the zoom to the exact level I want and then back again to my normal "zoomed out" view...

In my setup, the "zoomed all the way out" view is the same as the "zoom not enabled" view.  Is there a way to "zoom out" wider than the "not zoomed" view?  (I have FOV set at 106.)

It would be nice if the zoom feature would save between game play sessions.  Don't see why it's been over looked for so long.

So, it looks like the angle of view is the same (the gunsights are the same width), but the head angle and position is different.  The "zoomed out" view is from a slightly higher position and angled down.  Is there a way to adjust the angle of the head?

+1.. saving the custom zoom settings between sessions would be great.

I typically zoom when i shoot, but i have it set somewhere inbetween default zoom and no zoom at all.

Currently i have certain areas of the cockpit of certain planes to use as a reference.  Not having to reset it each login would be awesome.
