Guidance Requested: Panel Line Color on Painted Surface

Okay, so I am wrestling with this stupid yellow tail on my P-51D.    I was looking at other skins to see how they treat panel lines within painted areas, particularly yellow.   Some skinners use black/gray and others use a darker version of the base color.   Is there a "right" way?

With red and blue I use a darker shade of the same color.   With white I use a light gray.   Is this the best method?

What I do is make a layer for panel lines using pure black. I then adjust the opacity of the layer to about 7-8%. This has the effect of making the panel lines look like a darker version of the base paint color. I also make a separate layer for panel lines of access hatches and control surfaces. That layer is faded also to about 8-10% and placed over the normal panel line layer.

I did this with my rudder fabric ribbing.   Worked well.  I will give it a shot.   Thank you.
