vox will not transmit
« on: January 11, 2017, 11:37:20 AM »
I can hear everything just have lost transmit. My name lights up when buttons are pressed but all anyone hears is a beep. Tried a new mic, no help. Changed buttons, no help. I have tried putting my name in the channel 5 and just get a beep.

Any ideas. Computer is 6 months old and had been working fine until recently.

In the Clipboard: Options>Preferences>Game Sounds check that the Microphone setting is correct. It may go astray sometimes for unknown reasons. And sometimes it's hard to figure out what's wrong if it has changed from Realtek High Definition Audio to Realtek High Definition Digital Audio - your brain just doesn't tell you the difference between the two.

in the voice  preferences, the mic volume slider will not stay all the way right. Sometimes It will go back to all the way left on it's own when I log on and off. Even when it's all the way right still no voice transmit.

Did you check in the Game Sounds that you have the right microphone chosen?

The sliders should accept your wishes better if you uncheck the automatic control.

In any case, no matter where the slider is as long as it's somewhere else than zero, you should be able to hear your voice at some level by tuning to yourself and having got the right microphone mapped (or actually a mic input jack).

Verify your mic is being recognized and functioning within Windows.

In Windows 10, right click on the volume-icon in the lower right of the screen.  Select recording devices.
It will show a list of recording devices.  Make sure the mic that you use is listed there and set as default.
There is a bar that should move when you talk into the mic.
This will just eliminate Windows as being the culprit.

Have u tried recording your voice and see if it works in windows? If that works log in the game and you might need to enable mic boost.

1)  Make sure the mic is working in Windows first.  Enough has been provided to help get you there.

2)  In the game, place your pilot handle/game name into the 'V' channel of the radio.  When you test, it should echo back what you say.

Let's go from there.

There are applications which will change those setting, without your knowledge.  Windows update can also change them without your knowledge.

for some reason windows is muting on it's own. I see this windows in the microphone properties/ then the levels tab. Works fine for a while then mutes itself.

think I found the problem. malware.

did a google search and found this is a fairly common issue with windows 10. Tried a few fixes but using Malwarebytes seems to have fixed it.
