iBUYPOWER desktop 991? Is this worth it?

As i've mentioned in other posts, I need everything.  My local best buy has one of these in stock.  Is it worth the money or should I keep searching?

I spent $1700 on this rig just a few months ago.  the biggest difference is the video card.

3.4 GHz processor, Geforce 1080, 16 GB hardware, 240 GB SSD and 1TB HD.

It is also an Ibuypower brand.  I'm very happy with it.  Absolutely rock solid 60 fps under all conditions with all the eye candy maxxed out.

I copied the specs to PCPartpicker trying to choose decent quality options and the price for the parts was below $1100. A builder company should charge about $100 for assembly and testing, so $1500 sounds a little high to me.

Best Buy is selling that system for $1,050.  I came up with $1,500 TOTAL because I would still need a monitor, stick and a headset which I figure would cost me another 450.

Just realized my company has a purchase discount program with Dell.  I'm gonna put an alienware together and post specs shortly.

Should you need more memory, it's not a big issue. Same goes for the optical drive. The case looks like there's no place for one, but USB optical drives don't cost much either.

So indecisive...I'm seriously thinking about just driving right to Best Buy and purchasing the ibuypower from the start of this thread.  Then I can be playing AH tonight 😀

My only concern is that the vid card is only 3G rather then 6.  But if I'm ONLY playing AH, would that even matter?  Is this system not more then capable of maxing out AH3?

The 3 GB version of GTX1060 will run AH3 very well on a single 1920x1080 monitor with most of eye candy enabled.

If your itch isn't too bad, I'd recommend you to wait to get the Alienware for $500 cheaper. Or, if you're willing to pay the higher price, you'd get a much better performer for years to come.

However you said you'd need a monitor, too... Have you thought about maybe getting one of those ultra wide curved monitors? Or even 4k? Or 144 Hz? Or even a combination of those? If so, then the 1060 won't be enough. In that case the Best Buy option would be a Worst Buy way too soon.

I've use an iBuyPower (i7-4790-4GHz, 16GB, GTX-970, 120GB HD, 1TB SSD) for over two years now with no problems.  It runs AH at max settings at over 100fps.

I think you'll be happy with your choice.  I believe the 1060 will limit your fr on that system, but I expect you'll not find it an issue.  I use a 3 GB 1060, the vram is never maxed out, so I think there's no advantage to have the 6 for AH3.  When frs dip below the 75 fps (monitor-limit) on my system, I can see that my 1060 is maxed out, whereas my i3 6100 never seems to max out, so I think you'll have plenty of cpu power, and overall I expect you'll be quite pleased with your system.
