Memorial monument for our passed members
« on: February 07, 2017, 02:03:45 PM »
Howdy :salute

Over the years there have been several dear players who have passed on from this life. With the resent passing of Wizzy I had an idea for us all to honor and remember those who have enriched our gaming experience and have been figures in the AH community.

Could the designers of the basses construct some sort of memorial statue or monument that the callsigns of passed members can be displayed upon it? Perhaps something displayed in the large airfield town, or something in those small little vehicle basses?

Or at least perhaps a memorial placed in one of the rotating maps if it is too much to ask for this to be done to a base.

Thank you for considering this wish to honor those who have made this game Rich with character and continued to line the developer's pockets with coffers.

What's the criteria?  Popularity?  Infamy?

You'll open up a can on that one...

Beloved members of the community in good standing with hitechcreations (not banned). Not all people may love everyone but they were a part of the game, friend or foe. They deserve to be remembered.

BentNail
Wizzy
Gonzo(think he passed?)
Etc.

Again, what's the criteria?

Again, what's the criteria?

They died.
They are not banned for hacking/cheating.
They've been around long enough for people to notice their callsign and obviously members are aware of their passing (again, as of resent Wizzy is a prime example for what would be the the plumb and level)

Figured this is pretty obvious

I did a cartoon....

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,303581.0.html

....and there use to be a player that maintained a page with a list of those that have passed, but I cant find it right now.

An in game thing would be had to keep up with  adding names and such, and a "monument" with something like "For those who have passed on...." on it may soon be forgotten and become just another obstical to drive around

I doubt my name would be on that memorial.

Just an example...

Also, there are plenty of players who are basically unknown but are good guys/gals.   So one has to be famous or notorious to get on that wall.

Ultimately, subjective criteria requires a line to be drawn and that's gonna' offend some folks.   The only other option is no criteria at all.

Not bashing your idea, just pointing out some hurdles.

Maybe have a board with these respective persons names on it in the O'club. Naming streets in the respective plates city strat is another idea.

These two and that somebody asks for the name to be added. That is all you need. Put it some where in the dueling or practice terrain. Anybody who gripes for non technical/cost to Hitech reasons is just being churlish. (In my opinion, not trying to start a stupid dispute, or insult somebody who has already posted.)

I asked for this after bentnail passed. I suggested it be in one of the practice arenas so as not to disrupt the gameplay

It is unfortunate that some guys go without being noticed but most of the time someone knows...and as for who...it would be anyone who has gone and was noticed...doesn't mean any less for those who just disappear ...one thing about this community is no matter how hated or loved you were there is always a communal feeling of loss within AH... seen it many times over the years...yes even you would have nice things said about at your time of demise V   :D
