Pattern will be busy this weekend

The Heritage flight qualifications are starting tomorrow here at Davis-Monthan AFB. I saw and heard several Mustangs yesterday and a couple F86's just landed a few minutes ago.

My ears will be happy  with the sound of Merlins, Packards, Allisons and some round engines as well as old time turbojets. There are usually at least one P47 and a T28 that also come by annually.

Only a 15 hour drive for me. Or as they say in TX "just down I-10 a ways" (rolls eyes).  (native Texans can be so annoying sometimes)

They will be done by 1600 on Sunday. They allow for folks heading home to have some daylight left to make the trip. Besides the AF folks are NOT used to working weekends anyhow.

Ahh..rgr. I was out there about this time 2 or 3 years ago.  There were a couple of F86s flying around the Intl airport.  Guessing that was what they were doing. Pretty cool!

I laugh at all the whiners from other states who complain about "long" drives.   Where I'm from the closest "big" city is five hours away.

Funny how things take a different perspective when you compare them.

Take a map of Europe and lay a same scale map of Texas over it. About five European countries fit in Texas at the same time. One being Germany.

San Antonio.  #7 in the USA. 

You can downshift to Corpus Christi and that's still big to us.

Yes, true.  The USAF makes effficient use of its time, accomplishes tasks in four or five days, and can take the weekends off.   Grunts take seven or eight days to accomplish the same tasks.
