looks like I was wrong--I thought it meant that only the perk planes gv's were free

This would not be my personal preference to how perk points work.  I like the way the current system is.

If I remember correctly, HiTech had a specific reason to separate the perk points. Cant remember what the reason was now though. I prefer the current version though.

I never use mine.   

I would love to have them as a workaround for ENY in the mornings.

I think I would rather be able to put perks towards a squad perk pool. Select in the hanger like you do fighter/attack sortie. All perks earned during that sorties goes into the squad perk pool. Sadly this would be abused.

Also, what required tasks? Its pretty much open world. There's nothing you are required to do.

Have you tried auto angle? you can also use .speed xxx then go into auto climb.
