Change 10k altitude increment marker color?
« on: February 19, 2017, 08:04:30 PM »
Currently, the altimeter has a  small red marker to indicate ten-thousand feet increments. It's very hard for some color-blind folks (like me) to see.

Can this marker be changed to a brighter color, either permanently or in the settings menu?

I have complained about this forever.   It's a byproduct of Post Lighting.   It fuzzes out the tick mark.

I'd rather see it as a triangle or something that stands out a bit more...

I can see it only if I zoom in and look down into cockpit. And I have a 32 inch monitor!

Ditto.  Turn off POST LIGHTING/ANTI-ALIAS and you can see it--but then everything else looks like crud.

Not solved.   That's a crutch at best.    I don't look up in the corner of my screen for much of anything.  I'm scanning my instrument panel with glances.

You are right but in general you should be quite aware of the situation are you at 10k, 20k or 30. And since it does not change very rapidly the number in the corner can help.

That's it.

In the clipboard go to GUI, then the HUD alt\speed box will darken and can be dragged with your mouse down onto your gunsight. You can see how I placed it in this screen shot.

If I walk away on auto climb or am diving out looking over my shoulder etc. I may not know my altitude instinctively.    That's what the tick mark is for.

The fact of the matter is the new anti-aliasing makes it hard to see.   This should be fixed.

Once you set the HUD on your gunsight, where ever you point your view, that HUD goes with your PoV.

That's well and good but I don't get info quicker from the red tick mark than with interpretation of four lines of numbers.

We have tapes and dials and colors in glass cockpits for that very reason.  Sometimes you need to know the exact number, sometimes you just need a range.

It's screwed up.  We are compensating for a poorly implemented graphic.   It's growing pain-related, I understand that.  But geeze come on.

What Viraciu says. It's a bug for some of us, and should be fixed.

I suppose the counter-argument is that the game doesn't need to accommodate losers who are color blind!
