You're better off using OBS' NVEnc codec than using Shadowplay, unless you absolutely can't be assed to know anything at all about how it works.

Not sure what the issue is with Geforce Experience. Seems like just recommended game settings to me. Easy to roll back if you don't like. Am I missing something?

As Skuzzy said, "chews up performance and brings zero benefit to the application I am running at the moment". At worst, programs that check for updates may cause a hiccup in your game just when you're about to kill a 262 in an I16.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

I don't like background software interrupting my escape from reality but I guess I stay too current with hardware to notice any ill effects. I almost miss the days of DOS with exclusive control over the hardware and tweaking the config.sys, autoexec.bat, and later QEMM settings. Almost ;)

I will let Nvidia take a shot at optimizing my "experience" though but I do reserve the right to decide what I like best.

You do realize that is 99.9% marketing?  They are more interested in gathering data from your computer than optimizing anything for it.

I've had nothing but great experiences with this software, it's made my gaming within known games much better and faster. It even allows me to capture the errors and programming failures with it's video capture system, that the in-game film viewer didn't catch...  (shadow seizure feature, framerate akin to an Apple2e, floppy chicken opponents, CV groups uncontrollable, master of the universe tree branches)

So if you're going to allude that another bit of software "chews up performance" with respect to your software,  I would respond with, wow, is AH3 THAT fragile?

I KNOW my hardware can run AH3 5 times over, yet still doesn't seem to run "well".  If I had AH3 in my geoforce experience, I wouldn't need to tweek my system to get the game to run as it should... (it really bothers me that I have a more powerful system than the one this game was designed on, yet cannot get the game to appear as it was intended)

Sigh...i guess thanks geoforce for my poor experience with AH3?   :bhead

Still do not get the comment about AH3 being fragile.

It is a well known fact that GeForce Experience causes some loss of performance of the video hardware it is running on.  It does not matter what game is being played.

I am not familiar with the problems you are having with AH3, but this is not the thread for that.  If you are having issues, then open a thread in the tech support forum and let's see what can be done.

I found that using Geforce Experience to update required login with facebook, twitter, etc. None of which I subscribe to so I removed it. If there is any built in update process, I haven't found it but I haven't tried to visit their forums to look for an answer either.

Not true....it gives you the option to link your accounts so you can live stream directly to them.

None of those are required...

As far as OBS....tried it...works...clunky interface IMO.  Nvidia shadowplay utilizes inherent GPU capabilities to reduce impact on performance....which, since OBS is agnostic, I'm not sure is present in others.  I have used Action! before...they have a neat feature which uses your HD graphics embedded in your CPU to record with, while vid card does what vid cards do.... Was great till they did an 'update' and broke it....took them along time to "make it right again" and in the meantime I drifted over to shadowplay.

So far as spying for commercial purposes I don't care so long as my machine performance is not impacted, even slightly. There are free tools like ccleaner that remove any database repository to be pulled from my machine by the unscrupulous. I'm not so naive to believe nothing is garnered by my activities but I have guns.  :D

If you are on a really fast card, such as a 1070, or better, you probably will not know it until you get into a big furball.  It amounts to a few percentage points of performance being lost.

If you need to eek out the most performance you can, from your video card, then this is one thing that can go.

I noticed a bigger hit then that. First thing I did was get rid of GFE and its much better now.
