MadCatz bankrupt

They were delisted from the stock exchange a short time ago, and now it's official, MadCatz has declared bankruptcy, and is beginning to liquidate its remaining assets.  Anyone who needs parts or anticipates needing parts for any Madcatz stuff may want to try and contact them.

Good thing Saitek was acquired by Logitech a few months back...no idea what they payed MadCatz for it, but it obviously wasn't enough.  Could have been the end of a long line of Saitek controllers, I still have my x36 from the late 90s, and 5 other Saitek controllers in my hotas collection.  I know it's a pretty popular controller/company in both sims and space games, glad to see it survived MadCatz.

LOL!  I used to work for those a-holes after I left CH.  Worst company I ever had the misfortune to work for, glad I only was there a few months.

Anybody hazard a guess as to have big the (or small) the joystick rudder pedal throttle market is in terms of units per year not dollars?

I've wondered that too Pem, I have around 30 Hotas I've collected since getting my first throttle/Ch Flightstick on the PC back in the 386 days.  I wonder what it would take to do what VKB is doing for example, but on a bit larger scale.  I prefer CH for AH over TM/etc right now, but I wonder what the new VKB stick will bring.

I bet AkAk has a good idea of what the market is like in terms of hotas sales.  And yes, it's a shame that after the guy AkAk worked for at CH sold it and the QC went way south, I have a Combatstick from before the sale, and a Fighterstick from after, and when you open them up, it's hilarious how lazy they were with the FS.

It's surprising that they still failed after getting that Guitar Hero contract, I mean you seriously have to be a screw up to screw that large a deal up, as per AkAk/Skuzzy.  Again, I'm just happy they didn't drag Saitek down with them, +1 to Logitech on that score.

Well I know I had to deal with Logic teck to get my Saitek rudders replaced so I assumed they were bought out by LT. I'll give MadCatz credit for one thing, whether is because of them or not, but SST controller software became what it always should have been under them. SST works very well now compared to previous builds.

I liked the wireless version of this mouse I bought from them, it is easily customized so it is a lot more comfortable than vanilla mice.



Glad I purchased two extra sets of wireless batteries for the future.

Madkatz sold their interest in Saitek to Logitech a few months back I remember.
I haven't paid attention lately but it seems the x-56 is still being sold at least and I would expect the better Saitek flight sim equipment will be sold by Logitech.

Madkatz certainly wasn't well managed.

their latest line of PS4 arcade sticks was a failure and I believe that's a large % of their income. Charging $220 for a stick and 10 buttons in a plastic box was over the limit.

The failure of the game Rockstar 4 is what killed Mad Catz.  They invested almost all they had to make the hardware for the game and when the game tanked, Mad Catz couldn't recoup the investment they made.

It was stupid of Mad Catz to invest so much for a game that destined to fail.  By the time Rockstar 4 came out, rhythm games weren't popular anymore.

exact I've read about that, one aggravating factor was that thr older generation controller was still compatible with the game IIRC
