Speaking of strats.....?
« on: April 12, 2017, 03:44:33 PM »
What can we do with the "other" strats to make them worth while?  By other strats I of course mean fuel and training?  In the 2-3 mo the ive been back I've yet to see anyone pork all the fuel or barracks at a single base.  I do see these strats diverting resources as people attack them to pad their score...To each their own.

So is there anything that can be done with these strats?  If not, should they just be removed?

Troops had been porked quite a lot at Vbases in AH2, but that has stopped because it's more difficult now in AH3. Back in AH2 a bomber could do that in a single pass even.
Porking troops at airfields had stopped many years ago, again when the number of barracks was increased and they were spread out.

I will pork troops to help stop an advance. As long as no one ups or jumps in a manned gun a single 110 can drop the troops and the radar at a v base.

I used to kill barracks in ah2 but in ah3 I hate that structures go from 2d fuzzy spots to SPROING 3D buildings and vice versa as you dive and zoom. Fuel I never thought was relevant except for the pretty colors.

Fuel does nothing on v base. On an airfield it's reduces max fuel a plane can carry.

When porking all the fuel at a base meant you could only up with 25% it made a difference.  With it at 50% as the maximum pork, it doesn't stop much.   You are still better off taking the ammo and radar off of a base first.   Troop training porks supply runs so you can make a case to stop that, but only after a serious hit to the troop strat.

personally, I think hitting fuel and barracks strats are a waste of time.

I agree 100%.

The question I'm raising is how do we make it worth the time?  Is there anything that can be done?  Should they just be removed as strats?

What about making strats capturable?

Hitting barrack strats DOES have an impact on the country hit. In theory hitting the barracks strats, down to say 10%, then hitting the barracks at the bases really impacts the countries ability to resupp any thing. :joystick:

The only good hitting fuel would be to limit 163's at their respective fields.  Otherwise, it's not going to accomplish anything.  I have to question why GV's have a fuel option, when they don't use it.  If you pork the fuel at a V-Base, the only thing that does is give you an annoying pop up that you can't take off with more than 75% fuel if you have gv's with 100% for some odd reason.  And of course, limit the amount a Storch can take, which is a few days on 75%. :)

If anything, a change to how you resupply may be in order.  Instead if just dropping in a general area, you have to take them to a designated spot on base and in town.  Next to the map room could be a little "pad" where you need to drop the supplies in order for them to do anything in town.  As for the base, possibly next to tower?  Maybe even next to the indestructible? :headscratch:  It could act as a depot of sorts.  Of course, strats would get this "depot" as well. :aok

Only problem would be when dropping supplies from a C47 and trying to hit a little "pad". Not all supplies are from an M3. They are trying to think of a way to increase the use of the C47 as ground drops have become the norm now.

The way to increase the use of the C47 would be to allow the C47's the formation option like the bombers.

You got me there.  I forgot to factor in an air drop. :o  An air drop wouldn't need to land on the pad directly, but be within a certain distance of it for it to tic.  I honestly forgot what the distance is currently for sups to tic, but having the air drop land within that distance of the pad for them to tic is a start. :headscratch:

Simple solution.  To credit supplies they have to be dropped within boundary of town/airfield.  I think it's so lame that M3s can drop supps when they are within 1k of town and thwart a capture.  Make them work a little, town boundary solves this.

Why don't the strats move back anymore?
