Trading more bombers for . . .
I think we are OK because of the following.
We added 2 B-17 formations and 1 FW 190 aircraft.
First is that +/- one axis fighter isn't going to alter the outcome of a scenario. Even natural variability in staffing frame to frame is statistically much greater than +/- 1 aircraft.
Second, historically, fighter:fighter BOG was 0.82, DGS was 0.84, DGSII was 0.8. We are at 0.8 -- in line with those.
Third, define "excess fighters" = (number of enemy fighters) - (number of allied fighters). If every allied fighter tied up an axis fighter, excess fighters is how many would be left over to go after bombers -- it is one metric among several I look at in balance for a design. Historically, (excess fighters)/(bomber formations) was 0.59 for BOG, 0.57 for DGS, and 0.74 for DGSII. We are currently at 0.56 -- in line with BOG and DGS, and significantly lower than DGSII.
In summary, +/- one aircraft is not of great significance to outcome, and both fighters:fighters and (excess fighters):bombers are in line with past 8th AF scenarios.
