Sound cards in Dxdiag

Are we supposed to have 2 sound card on our dx, one for output and one for input?

Dumb question but I am just trying to solve the warping. It's really getting old.

The one for output and the other for input are the same device. As your snippet shows, there's actually two output devices, analog and digital. Even they are the same, (Realtek High Definition Audio). DxDiag shows them sorted by function, not by device.

Should you have two separate sound devices of the same make, it would show a number after the other. Like "Speakers (Audio Device)" and  "Speakers (Audio Device(1))" in the same manner as with files named similarly.
