NDISLES furball island
« on: April 30, 2017, 07:12:23 AM »
I'd like to see A2, A23, and A44 uncapturable (and the radar unkillable).

Logged on this morning to find that Knits had captured all three and no one was flying there.  These fields usually offer some quick action for low numbers.

Hitech nixed uncapturable bases in areas like that on ndisles on the center of my terrain where the three small GV bases sit in the tank crater pit. He disabled my setting them uncapturable himself as part of his review process for my terrain to be placed in MA rotation.

I think he wants uncaptruable as the three closest to the HQ to remain that way.

Is it no longer tank town? Use to enjoy fighting into the town then trying to hold it.

You can still up GV's and fight in the center tank town object.

No doubt, one person can capture the base.  That is not good.

This is my impression so it is almost zero fact based.  It seems like AH3 has attempted to reduce tanks battles.  Not eliminate, just reduce.  Keep in mind in ah2 there was quite a bit ill feelings from the fly boys when the Crater map came up.  I know I was one of them till I gave tanks a try.  V85 fights are gone with its new map.

Tank island on AH3 has had some fantastic tank battles with giant furbals over head but those days are few and far between of late.

Moving the pawn closer in from the large airbase would help a great deal.  Right now it is long drive and up hill.

None of the base objects I work with from the terrain editor are designed to reduce tank participation in the game. That is the terrain builder's choice or mistake. Other wise, Hitech would not have allowed my terrain into rotation because it's balanced to reflect the choice of game play by the two factions in our community. Also the new clutter tiles have tiles with tree to grass percentages that favor tanks, poor work and a lack of understanding the tiles after the conversion to AH3 of terrains is contributing to the tree problems. Also a bit of rear_end_headedness by tank players who now know trees will eat tanks is contributing to this.

I proved this with my terrain bowlma, there are almost nil complaints about trees impeding having fun in tanks. And the unsticking code caused the trees to spit the tanks out after a few minutes. I tested every square inch of possible tank battle terrain areas with a panther to account for the trees, including spawning into the center of trees to test the unsticking code which works. And that was part of why my first terrain took 6 months to complete due to my testing all GV spawn three times for issues like this.

As for ndisles and swapping out the GV bases for airfields, the spawns were not removed from their original positions, so the same tank battles take place in the center. Having the map room on the airfield is mirroring the GV base that was there. The map room was sitting in about the same spot, now you have the best of both worlds getting to quick action. If someone takes your airfield, I think the idea is now you have something to take back, unless this game has changed over night or, we have gotten that lazy in our old age.

I hate that these bases get taken. Can really close a map down for flying action at least. Would really keep a steady fight in the middle

Let them stay capturable, but add a town and make it like every ther airfield in the game.  Why isn't there a town, what's the reasoning behind it?

Also, too much noise.  Being bombed in a tank is quite annoying, but I haven't really noticed an excessive amount of it; mostly the planes furball the other planes and ignore the tanks.  Conversely, I ignore them as well and don't try to shoot at them unless they are bombing GVs.  However, having so many planes overhead really makes tanking in that tank town quite annoying because of the constant loud noise of low flying planes.  Tankers depend on sound to locate enemy tanks and with planes buzzing around that is impossible.  Plus the constant loud noise is just really irritating leading me to ask myself why am I doing this again?
