Map zoom
« on: May 21, 2017, 09:36:01 PM »
for some reason the bracket keys dont zoom map in and out. The key mapper still show the keys as active and I have unmapped and remapped several times to no avail. I even tried mapping throttle buttons and that does not work either.

If it's a USB keyboard, try unplugging it. Or rather, go to the Device Manager and remove it from there. Un-and replug and let Windows reinstall it. No guarantee but costs nothing to try.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Try renaming the "settings" folder, just to test it.  If it works, you can copy your config files from the old settings folder, except the *.kmp files and see if it continues to work.

If the above works, I would like a zipped copy of that old settings folder s we can find out what is going on.

Try Insert and Delete.

If you renamed the settings folder and it did not work, then something else is going on.

You said the keys show up in the "Map Keys" panel when you press them, is that right?  The virtual keyboard highlights, showing them pressed?

Renaming the settings folder and putting it back, will not wipe out your settings.  There is something else going here.

Something else is going on if you lose the settings by renaming the folder.  Are you sure you did not place the original "settings" folder into the new "settings" folder?

There is no way to eliminate/lose most settings unless you physically remove the configuration files from the "settings" folder.  Joysticks are the only ones which can change if the USB ID changes.  Keyboard cannot be lost.

If renaming the folder did not restore the key functionality, are you sure you renamed the settings folder of the installation you are actually running?

When you restarted, after renaming the settings folder, did the game prompt you for a login and it did not fill it out for you?  If it did, then you did not rename the correct folder.  That is one way to know if you got the correct "settings" folder.

I must have renamed the wrong settings folder, the game is asking for a password. Looks like I start from scratch.

Just search for "login.cfg".  That is the settings file which contains the login ID and password.  Maybe you stuffed into another folder.

The bracket keys only zoom the view.
