Player built bases/airfields, where players would design the layouts, place buildings, defenses from the possible pool of points (perks?) and where other players could start from.

Basicaly a person could create their 'home base'.

I know this is currently a more of a fantasy than an idea, but hey, maybe in future?

Have you played with the terrain editor?  :D  I haven't, but legends say that you can fly in the sky like a bird without an aircraft and the land & sea bends to your will!  :D

Cool wish, but we're  just not there yet. You're looking for a little more role playing aspect (with building) and player affected terrain in a live sense. I think? Well this can be done, just not in the Main Arena...

Aside from being cheeky, check out some of the terrain editing tools, and you could be one that builds the next best Main Arena Terrain... (Bustr is the leading expert on terrain generations that I'm aware of)

we already have player designed and built maps, Bustr is one on them, he designed and made the BowlMA map with the 1st use of battleships it's quite good and fun...

why don't you design and build a map and submit it to HiTech, and see how it goes.

why do we need a home base when we can land at any base even Vehicle bases if your careful?

Nugetx,

Go into the Terrain Editor forum and ask for Easyscor to give you a full run down on terrain building and see if it is for you. I have a series of posts in there about the Pac terrain set with screen shots documenting the current terrain I'm building to give players a look inside of the terrain editor. A player and programmer named Artik has a free program that will import geo maps from around the world and give you a heightmap file that the terrain editor can import to create real world locations.

Waffle uses a 3rd party professional terrain editing software called L3DT which he can produce terrains in about 4 weeks. The one I created called BowlMA took me 6 months because I did it old school.

We have asked numerous times over the last decade for some ability to run supplies to a location that would generate a forward base. As you can see we have a fixed base object style environment dependent on a terrain builder's imagination and the terrain engine itself while following guidelines for base placement from Hitech. Just taking command of a task group in our game should be a reasonable process with a group consensus. Instead it can be a very contentious process with even people driving the task group in spitefull directions. I can imagine the altercations between players trying to build a custome base from knowing the players in this game for 15 years.

You are batting about 999.999 on what you are throwing out here in the Wish List being something over the last decade that has already been presented to Hitech.

So far I'm confused, are you sure you even want to play an air combat game??

It is not strange to ask for the creative habits to be entertained (aka: minecraft).

The game only entertains the destructive habits, which is not the whole spectrum of expression.

although this is not a WWII flight sim, the object in this sim IS to destroy things building planes etc. to win the war thing have to be destroyed, actually it is the spectrum of expression, destroy building shoot down planes sink ships shoot the troops. if it's just flying around shooting things down, might as well play war thunder

Do you really think that destruction is the only habit of a human?

Are you aware that it is possible to play different games to satisfy different desires?

If you think you are having a 1v1 in the Main Arena, your SA has failed you.

Not gonna argue that, since the game (community) has its own evolved "fair" rules that most people know about or have heard about.

Look at minecraft and at what such a hit it is. It is because it harnesses the creative side of a person, even in the early days when there were no monsters or forced obstacles where people could just build something, it was taking off in a big way. The ability of a human to express that way can not be denied if expansion or increasing gameplay is concerned.

Yes, but it's not necessary to have everything in every game.  Baseball isn't lacking because players can't create their own base to carry with them in the outfield.

You can already do that now; it is just that custom designed bases and custom objects like bridges, buildings, etc. are not allowed in MA terrains.  They are allowed in terrains meant for the AvA or Scenarios etc. and several designers have already done so, including vehicle spawns inside LSTs on the beach of Normandy and the Eiffel Tower in Paris.  Also, it is part of the terrain generation process, i.e. multiple people can not "add" their "own" base or object to an existing terrain, it has to be added all at once at terrain building time.  However, I don't think there is anything stopping a group of people getting together to work on a terrain, with each person contributing their creation, probably in the form of a square object like a base or a "tank town" for integration by one leader into a finished terrain.  The process is substantially more difficult that I suspect Minecraft to be, and you have to know how to use AC3D modeling software as well as generate all the required texture maps.

I understand the desire to impact the game environment in real-time, to create a more fluid and dynamic MA. My idea, expressed some months back, was for the ability to create a temporary FOB, or forward operating base. The FOB would be deployed via multiple M3 and/or C47 runs, dropping supply boxes within a time-window until a certain number was reached, then a temporary base would "spring up" at that location, consisting of tent hangers and barracks, truck objects for fuel and ord, and a marston-mat runway. Defensive ack would be limited to some stationary MGs; no heavy defensive guns. It would be per-designated an airbase of V-base at the time you deploy the first supply box, and would last 20 minutes, unless resupplied at regular intervals. All the base objects would be destroy-able, of course.  Plane selection would be limited to fighters/light attack aircraft, and GVs to light and medium armor. Either no radar, or some how limit it (though this would require extensive code work in itself). The ground you place it on would have to meet certain requirements for flatness and grade.

that's a great idea
