Changed ISP - it seems blocked
« on: June 11, 2017, 03:06:30 AM »
Heyya guys. I changed my ISP - got a fiber from largest national provider in Poland.
While AH itself works fine, i can't get to website - i'm guessing you have it blocked for some reason. Similarly, downloads of maps and updates don't work either.
I'm getting around it using VPN but it's a pain. Can you unblock it please ?
IP from home: 79.184.x.x range.

Additionally, when i log into the game, first list of arenas are free ones. Usually empty. I have to know to look fort melee arena on second tab. First thought is - "there is noone here".
Might discourage some folks.
Thanks

fd

We do actively block open VPN relays, but we also block addresses which have had nefarious activities targeting us as well.

Never intend on blocking legitimate users and I will get it taken care of Monday morning.

No problem Scuzzy, game runs fine :) Just have to use paid VPN to browse the boards and download updates.

You should be able to access everything from your normal ISP IP address now.

The open VPN relay has been blocked.

I just subscribed to a paid VPN service and found the AH websites blocked.  Is there a port or setting that I can use to show I am a legitimate user?

I realize some use a VPN service for illegal purposes, but I use it for added security against ransomware and in response to the recent repeal of internet privacy protections in the U.S.  What are your thoughts on VPN's Skuzzy?

Open VPN relays are used for a number of things.  Every hacker on the planet uses them, even the legitimate services are compromised with nefarious people.

We actively block all open VPN relays as we discover them.

Without blocking those connections, we leave ourselves exposed to hackers.

You do realize that an open VPN relay is not going to do much to stop your computer from getting malware/spyware/ransomware?  There are multiple attack vectors for those programs.

Those relays are also going to add (sometimes a substantial amount) latency to your connection which will impact you in the game.
