sound stuttering
« on: June 25, 2017, 02:43:46 PM »
When I start getting receiving hits, more in  a furball, the sound starts cutting in and out which seems to affect game play.
Running dx9 version
attached dxdiag

thanks

This is my audio device section of Device Manager in the Windows 10 Control Panel.

The two disabled devices are labeled High Definition Audio Device, but they are actually Nvidia Audio from the video cards. Anything like that which you are not using should be disabled, or you will have issues as you are.

Chalenge, thanks for the image. It definitely helps telling people what to do when they are asked to disable the video card audio.

Eagler, do as described in the image. Also go into the Settings and uninstall the Nvidia HD audio drivers.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Usually disabling is enough, because you may find that when you uninstall the driver that Windows will reinstalls the driver. There is a way to prevent it, but lately Microsoft has been going around the users intent anyway.

Huh? I've always thought that Windows doesn't care about disabled items. If you're right, I thankfully stand corrected.

Anyway, Eagler, keep us informed if that did the trick.
