Goofy idea using the pennants from "Capture the Flag"
« on: June 29, 2017, 08:48:10 AM »
Thought of it this morning -

What if each squad had a squad-colored pennant that could be carried by the C-47?  The pennant's starting location could be the HQ or large uncapturable airfield.  Any member of the squad can move it with the C-47 to an airfield and in so doing designates that airfield as the squad's "home" field and gives some special advantage (ENY-limit exemption or perk discount of some kind?) for squad members spawning from that field.  (The C-47 represents the transport of the squad's ground personnel and equipment).  What other special advantages could be created?

If the field gets captured the pennant is re-born at the initial spawn location, but squad members could use a C-47 to move the pennant away before the field falls if it looks threatened.

One thing I like about this idea is that it gives an advantage to being in a squad, and organized squad ops.  It also brings in the 'dragging the pennant' code from Capture the Flag into the MA, which was kind of cool to play with back in Beta.

Thanks!

To make it workable, might have to limit the number of pennants supported at a field - maybe dependent on field size?  One for a small field, two for medium, 3 for large, etc.    And when the last squad person logs off, the pennant disappears and respawns at the starting point.

I think there is a clipboard map function to display pennants but it doesn't seem to have any effect for me.
