Yes again the ENY issue
« on: June 29, 2017, 01:09:39 PM »
I know this subject has been discussed repeatedly, but I've finally had enough of it to finally say something.

I've been playing now for 4-5 years as a Bishop. Currently the Bishops have more players so the ENY kicks in.
Because this almost every time I log on I'm forced to use planes and tanks I don't what to use, nor should any player in any other country.
And please don't suggest I switch sides. I know some guys do, but there is no way I'd shoot down guys I just flew with..."Band of Brothers."
And also do not suggest I learn to fly high ENY planes...I don't want too!
I pay a monthly fee to play AH, which in my mind, means I should be able to fly or drive anything I want at any time?
Not fun, nor right, for me to constantly fight say fight Tiger's with high ENY tanks, or defend a base in a Brewster while they're flying 262's.

Additional thought. New guy is thinking about joining AH, his favorite chess piece is a Knight, and he wants to fly P-51's. But he logs on the Rooks & Bishops have a few more players and he can not fly his preferred aircraft? You think he's going to start an account where his options in choices are limited?

I'll deal with it for a few more months, but if it does not change I will cancel my account.

I know it's only $15, but I'm guessing I'm not the only player who is about to quit, or has already pulled the plug over the ENY issue, which is one I perceive as ill-advised if you want to retain the few accounts you have.

I considered it.

I'm not going to lie.

In fact, the only reason I didn't is because Skuzzy and Hitech have shown so much class in helping me with my skinning of late.  I figured a bit of loyalty is warranted in return.

But, yeah, after not playing for two weeks, the first time I logged in the ENY monster was roaring.   I was pretty ticked off.

ENY is as fun as being steamrolled by the country that enjoy double numbers... keeping the low-ENY for the side with 1.5-2X planes would make any defense futile.

A proposal I can I agree with though : ENY should connected to numbers of the front-line ie. Bish-Rook, Bish-Knight, Knight-Rook, not the whole map.

Instead of just complaining about it, suggest a solution to even up the problems an unbalanced numerical advantage can be compensated for.

I'm sorry that you are flying on the country with the most people most of the time.  if you really want to low ENY planes the ability to do so is in your hands, but you choose not to do it.  the ability to fly a plane is in your hands but you choose not to do so because you want to fly low ENY planes.
We all pay the 15 bucks a month so we can play the game, but by the rules and those rules include ENY.  I pay 15 bucks a month but I don't get to fly the ME262 any time I want, so I choose a different plane.  Sometimes I switch sides when Knights have too many.  I just make sure I do not immediately engage the Knights when I switch from them, there is always that third country to fight.

Not fun, nor right, for me to constantly fight say fight Tiger's with high ENY tanks, or defend a base in a Brewster while they're flying 262's.

A new guy that is "thinking" about playing Aces High is going to switch because he has no country loyalty.  These aren't real countries you know and mean nothing to new players.

I'll deal with it for a few more months, but if it does not change I will cancel my account.

I for one certainly don't want you to quit but I think ENY is neccessary and adds to the gameplay by putting in some fairness when one country outnumbers another.

I know it's only $15, but I'm guessing I'm not the only player who is about to quit, or has already pulled the plug over the ENY issue, which is one I perceive as ill-advised if you want to retain the few accounts you have.

I will never have any sympathy for someone who insists on flying for the side with the most people, you want to club baby seals, and you want t huge spike club with which to do it, no matter how much of an advantage you have. There's a name for people who think like that.....

I am sympathetic but I'm sorry sometimes you just can't have everything you want.

I want to:

Dogfight like Joaquim
Bomb like Havermeyr
Plan like Dantoo
Inspire like Stampf
Fight with dogged determination like Wiley
and code like HiTech

Not going to happen so I'll just muddle along with my very limited skillset and have fun anyway.

Nonsense.

ENY kills fights.   Many times I have been the outnumbered side doing a rolling base defense only to have ENY kick in and cause my opponents to log off.   Yay.  Exciting.

Being outnumbered means more targets.   I don't need a crutch, particularly as ENY is presently implemented.

OTOH it screws me over to the point of frustration as expressed by the OP.

As currently coded, ENY = PITA all around.

Be careful what you wish for. Getting rid of ENY would mean that we need another balancing system, and that sould probably be that you get assigned to the side w lowest number when you log in, without being able to switch..

Make ENY localized.   Or make it frontal-based.   Something.  Anything.

Getting rid of the side switch time limit--or dropping it to half half an hour--is worth a try.

ENY does not bother me. If HTC decides to get rid of ENY then add perk to planes like P51d, la7, 190d9, p47m, spit16....I think this is a great thing to do. Perk em and fly em all you want. I think that is fair enough.
