Torps have the ability to disable rudder.
« on: June 30, 2017, 01:45:25 AM »
Give some incentive for doing a suicide mission. The more direct the hit on the rudder the longer it takes to repair and the more violent the ship will turn. I'm talking about a bulls eye hit here that could be rewarding and make for better gameplay. Not to mention it has happened on several accounts during the war.  :old:

would be cool to see ship damage be more granular than it is now.  listing due to flooding (only slight listing for the carrier so air ops can't be shut down this way), reduced speed and/or damaged steering, damage to fire control platforms increase dispersion of shells fired, maybe an oil slick for aesthetic purposes.

Pie-in-the-sky wishing but still, it would be interesting.
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

and while ship is turning around in circles planes are still attacking the base.
better to sink cv with   planes/pt boats/sb's/other ships

I would agree to any idea that would make the game more realistic without bogging it down. I'm neutral on this one, I'm not against the idea, just don't know.

I don't understand your argument.
I'm wishing for rudder damage should the hit be direct on top of normal damage for more rewarding gameplay. How is my wish worse than sinking it if it is helping you sink it?  :huh

You made it pass ack and fighters with a fish and scored a great hit. You should get something other than just damage points for it...

why would you want to just hit the rudder with a torp, and then try to sink it. when you can just hit the ship and sink it, also it's hard enough to sink a ship with a torpedo much less hitting  a specific part.

yeah it happened in real life, but I bet you a dollar to donuts they where trying for a hit to sink it not just cripple it.

and with the bismark-the british were trying to sink her not cripple her, but they got lucky and hit the rudder, which slowed her down and less maneuverable, but keep in mind they were trying to sink here 1st.
I have never been in a real war but I'm sure our people were trying to kill the enemy not just disable them

Yes it was by chance with the Bismark the big E and many more. The primary roll would be to get a hit without death no argument there. But if you happen to hit the rudder upon dropping fish on top of the standard caused damage as I mentioned before then more power to ya.

Do you believe people will just try to only hit the rudder with this implemented? That's like me saying the ship is only bombed to deack it...

ok now you going against your own wish^^^^^    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
you said you want to be able to hit the rudder only.
you want an incentive to do a suicide mission--upping bombers to bomb a cv is a suicide mission upping a PT boat to go after a cv group is a suicide mission. bomb the cv sink the cv as fast as possible is more fun than sitting  there poking at it.

If I hit a ship with torps, it sinks......rudder or no rudder.

Ok, if we're going to add more granular damage, then how about having the CV list a bit when damage gets severe enough?  It would certainly seem to be an incentive to get it to safety.

You hit the rudder by chance, a "bullseye", a lucky hit, a side effect of a well placed torp. I don't believe i said to sub the  damage of it. A miscommunication this is...
