CH Throttle and Win10 Update Advice!
« on: July 01, 2017, 04:25:17 PM »
Hey guys -

I'm parking this in general discussion although I know it belongs in technical issues, but I'm desperate.

Ever since the big Win10 update last week, my CH Pro Throttle doesn't work. The power light goes on when I plug it in to the USB port, but Windows says the device isn't recognized due to "hardware malfunction".

This is the exactly same hardware and config that I've been using for years, so only the update could have hosed it.

My Flightstick and rudders do work.

Has anyone encountered this issue? I'm at a loss, and any advice is welcome.

-Mutha

Did you try a "Hard reboot" of your system?  If not I suggest that you try it.  Win 10 may find your throttle when rebooting.

I feel your aggravation Windows 10 will never see my CH Rudder Pedals.

With my problem the fix was to go into CH Control Manager and do a rescan for them to be recognized by Aces High. You may want to give this a try as a work around.

Thanks guys for the advice. Rebel, I don't run the CH Control manager - I think Windows views the hardware as USB devices and supports that way.

And judging from lack of response, this seems to be an isolated issue, so I'll figure out it.  Need to get up for the new camp!

Update....

Just fixed my problem after some long research and digging for an answer..... Ch controls need to be plugged into a USB 2.0 port depending on your motherboard they will fail to be detected on a USB 3.0 port.

I had the rudders in a 3.0 port moved it over to 2.0 and works like it should now. It seams the CH Products are not backward compatible in USB selection.

I still use CH Control manager for all calibration of the controls.

Mutha, the lack of response might no be because of an isolated issue, it might as well be due to the active players/board members not using Windows 10.

Rebel28 may have a point there, at least some older printers trigger a message of not doing well on USB3. CH products have somewhat of a history behind them, too. That is at least worth giving USB2 a try. My CH stick was old fashioned even at the date I bought it along with my first PC, featuring Windows 95, so I'm not fully authorized on CH related issues...

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

I had all kinds of issues with Win 10 and CH Control manager. My CH controllers are USB but 15 years old! I deleted Control Manager but it left behind some files I can't get rid of. It shows in hardware as unknown device. I have to delete it every time I play in Device Manager. The file show as "CHPRODUCTS\VID_068E&PID_C020\1&79F5D87&0&0000" and is a Control Manager file. I followed directions to delete the software, unplug controllers ect. But everytime I reboot it shows back up and a search of files doesn't find it.

I bought a powered usb hub for my controllers ($29) and set the controllers up in the game. Works fine now and seems smoother also.

Good luck

I was had a problem with windows not booting up with my ch stuff plugged in. Mutha just unplug all ch controllers and then turn on your computer. Then plug your controllers back in and that should fix the problem.

I use a power hub. I have CH Manager too. The latest updates have not affected my CH stick, throttle, or pedals.

The issue was not with drivers, or Win10, or CH. It was a bunny.

My bunny Pip (named after the Dickens character and not Pips Priller https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josef_Priller), partially chewed through my throttle cable.

He has been grounded. Please, no jokes about eating him - he is an otherwise good fellow.

Thanks everyone for the advice, and sorry for the wild goose (bunny) chase. A little patching, and hopefully I'll be up soon.
