3rd party cloud system
« on: July 06, 2017, 03:04:02 PM »
I wish HTC would find a good quality cloud system like they did for the trees (Speedtree).

It would lessen the load and provide more breathing room.

And how exactly do you know this to be true?

They have spent a lot of time on the clouds, there have been a lot of changes as well as times when clouds have been disabled.

My point is that trying to incorporate a 3rd party cloud system (if one even exists) at this stage may prove to be even more work than making the AH cloud system work properly.

Hitech upgraded the cloud editor and is still tweaking the clouds. Have you ever built a weather system for a terrain in this game? How is a third party cloud program not going to need Hitech tweaking it to shoe horn it into his game engine? Speedtree was tweaked during the 2 years of the alpha\beta testing I took part in. Since AH3 went live, he has still made tweaks to the Speedtree system for FPS and playability.

You could always ask him how the new generation cloud system is coming along.....

the cloud system on Baltic yesterday was off the hook, I chased some bombers into some clouds yesterday was so thick you could almost walk on them. and at a distance and angles looked almost looked like storm clouds dark and menacing. nice job on the clouds.

lunatic is correct about chasing bombers into  dark clouds. Also, knocks my frames rate to 10. I say get rid of the dark clouds. They are pretty, but does ugly to frame rate.

HTC and company have done a superb job with the clouds.  Especially cool is the lightning in the clouds.  Well done! 👍
