Help on Japanese MAP gauges
« on: July 20, 2017, 03:04:09 PM »
I read somewhere that Japanese and British manifold pressure gauges were calibrated to read 0", and that ambient air pressure at sea level is about 30" Hg.  So these gauges indicate a MAP that is 30" lower than real?

Here is a screenshot of the Ki.61's MAP and E6B:

When I operate my throttle through its full range, the MAP gauge swings from -50 to +25.   So I'm not sure whats happening.  The E6B calls for about 40" at full (nonWEP) power.  But I can only get it to 25.

Is this a bug?

Different units of measurement. E6b is showing inches instead of millimeters. I'd say it's a bug.  :aok

Unless I am mistaken, and it does happen quite frequently...the Red 10 is actually 100 for mm? its graduated for an X 10 :uhoh

The gauge is showing about 250mm which is about 10". 10 + 30 = 40. The E6b and the gauge show the same pressure in different units.

Ah, thanks.  that's it.

Might be nice to have the E6B read in mm for the Japanese planes; I think it reads in ata for the German planes and gives boost settings for British engines?

Ya I think it's a bug, the E6b should read in millimeters like it does with the other Japanese aircraft.
