I doubt the carts in Russia had a 12 to 1 kill ratio. The CR 42 was an early war plane that was a great flier. It would be as good or better than the I-16. I thought we were looking for more early war planes. Of course, I know by now everything is prone to criticism.

If you want SCW planes, the Cr.32 was the one to go for:



The Cr.42, while too early to have a large role in WW2, was too late for the SCW and there's no evidence that even the earliest models fought in the SCW, last I recall.
