It's mid-summer.  Families are on vacation.  The weather is nice.  It stays light until damn near 9PM.   The numbers will be back in the fall.

"It's summer" has nothing to do with it.  FSO has been declining in numbers since 2008.

Along with the rest of the game. I bet the proportion of active players that fly FSO now is higher that it was then.

Example: FSO frame 2017-06-23

179 pilots total.
Of those, only 16 (9%) didn't play in the Melee arena in that month.
The remaining 163 FSO pilots averagely played 27.9 hours in the melee arena arena in June, that's about 2 hours more than the average Melee Arena pilot did.

At various times in the past I came to the same findings: Most FSO (and scenario) pilots also fly actively in the MA, and most of them very much so.

So the trick is just getting them to come together at the same time.  (Shut your disgusting mouth!)

I guess that the Titanic Tuesday was a means to do that.  Wonder if there is some other way to ring the dinner bell?

I enjoy the FSO's because the focus is air combat with defined mission strategies taking place. (no GV's...no base capturing etc)..... Its also one of the only times where your entire squad might show up to fly together....
The melee arena doesn't really have a focus. I think there is just too much going on, GV's....ships....base taking... air combat.  Its fun once in a while, but now,for me, its not focused enough to make me want to spend a lot of gaming time in there.

There has also been many battles of possibly starting FSO an Hr earlier instead of 11pm est time to 10pm Est but that also plays into other time Zone's but I bet if we bumped an hr early for the east coast number's may climb a little or maybe even change the night to Saturday who know's I love the game but the numbers have been dying with my slowly dying heart since I came back in 2009 after my first heart attack.

just my 2 cents

I think we need the man that made FSO fun daddog!daddog!daddog! I know it won't happen, just had to say it. :pray
This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. My summer work hours change. Earlier get ups compress my evenings. I look up and it's almost time for bed. It is what it is. I always make it a point to make FSO frames unless my women have other plans. That is what that is too!
