Attack on Pearl harbor

Greetings all, this setup is to test out some static
ships courtesy of Ghost dancer. this is a new pearl
harbor terrain so please, expect problems. its not
finished at this time.  jump in, blow stuff up
destroy ships, just let us know in the AVA forum,
how much bombs and what affects it had,
IE 1 torpedo killed 2 ships, that sort of thing.
please keep us aware of your frame rates and let
us know if thats a problem. PLease understand
this is a work and progress and weird things can
happen. thanks again to ghost dancer for the ships.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military
 strike conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy
against the United States naval base at Pearl
Harbor, Hawaii, on the morning of December 7, 1941
(December 8 in Japan). The attack was intended as
a preventive action in order to keep the U.S. Pacific
Fleet from interfering with military actions the
Empire of Japan was planning in Southeast Asia
against overseas territories of the United
Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States.

I flew around the north west coast of kauai and around pearl harbor.  Frame rates doped to 30 if zoomed on town.  Flying over the port in pearl frame rate tanked below twenty. Solid 59 over water and some variety of 50 around the napali coast.

Thanks NatCigg for the testing. Yeah Pearl Harbor is has a lot that can affect frame rate of machines ... the port and a lot of ships when you are low altitude. Haven't removed the trees all around Pearl yet but unfortunately mimicing Pearl and it ships might be rough on some machines.

    Flying the B5N2 around and dropping some Torpedoes.  :airplane:

     The first Battleship in the double row I am unable to hit as the torpedo disappears before impact with ship. I've tried several times. The next ship back I have no problem hitting. May be a bug.
I always wanted to fight an impossible battle against incredible odds.

Thanks for feedback Slate. Not sure why torps won't hit the first ship in double row. Only thing I can figure is the depth is different near the two ships. The first ship on the outside of the double row is in 52 feet of water. A torp track goes from 100 ft to 52ft on that one. While the second ship is at 84 ft of water. Both ships sit at altitude of 0.

That was fun, thanks for having us Jaeger.

At first none of the ships ack guns were firing. Later they were. 
On my first few runs I wans't doing any damage. Later I took out some gun emplacements with a torp.
 I was unable to sink a ship with up to 4 torps.
Then I think the hard gun value was changed and torps started working.
The terrain looked good to me, but others were seeing elevation anomalies like ships floating in the air.

Except for the ships floating in air, I think the rest of it was settings based.  :neener:

I had weapon lethality turned down and that caused torps not to work. fixed that problem by setting it back to 1.0 but then it sank both ships with one shot again.

did find that the Ack would not fire right after I reset all the ships back to floating. that I haven't figured out.

thanks to everyone that jumped in tonight. it was a fun time. thanks to all for helping Ghost dancer and the AVA staff test this terrain.
