what in tarnation is this?
« on: August 03, 2017, 10:04:11 AM »
Was egressing from enemy turf and struck my prop while I was still airborne.  Then proceeded to screech to a stop while still airborne.

"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

And here's the film.
"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

Zoom in on your fuel gage for a hint why your engine quit.  No clue why you levitated while ditching.

Running out of gas doesn't bend your prop.  I never hit the ground.

Well what I saw in the film shows your engine lose power out over the water over 100ft altitude and no bent prop.  Then you coasted at appx. 40ft alt for a bit, then down to around 10ft alt.  As you started to cross over land at -maybe -10ft alt with no engine, you struck something and your prop turned and smoke came from your engine.  Then you stopped.

Maybe I'm wrong but that seems consistent with flying just under 100kts and belly landing on a beach.  Looks to me like everything except the display of where your plane was in 3D space was just about right.  I have no idea why your altitude was zero yet your plane appeared about 20 ft in the air, even when stopped.

Something in the map is wrong.

Thanks for the screen shots, found the bug today. The bug had to do with terrain elevation calcs when near ocean. This also was showing up in buster and easy bridge testing.

This is like the old joke that voters are harsher to their beer brewer if he has an outage, than their politicians after raising their taxes. Death and taxes are certain but, fun and sex is only now.
