The first sortie, I got a kill and was on the deck just half a sector from a friendly base so I rearmed.  This is what started me being "off-cycle",  I kept rearming and merging with the buff groups each time they were inbound, and then would escort them home and re-arm again.  I wasn't damaged so I just kept re-arming instead of sitting and waiting for the one hour mark.  By the time I hit the 6 hour mark it became a challenge to keep doing.  I didn't get many kills, but I stuck right with the buff group time and again.  I must have driven dozens of enemy aircraft down and under the buffs I was escorting.  At one time while waiting for the buffs to get near the target, I drug a large group of enemy fighters off the other direction.  I turned many many fighters away by being between them and the buff group.
I immersed myself in the "Luftwaffe Pilot" role.  I had a job to do, escort the buffs, period.  I didn't care how many kills I got.  As soon as the enemy aircraft wasn't a threat, I broke off and returned to the buffs.  Just like my orders were.  I got my aircraft back home.  I stayed alive so I could keep helping the buffs do their mission
On the 11th re-arm, I collided with a Hurri.  It took my aileron.  I did the last hop without it and still managed to break fighters off my friends in the buffs.  And then I touched down for the last time with 5 minutes to go in the scenario, turned my engine off, withdrew the flaps, and then just sat there for a minute before towering out.
