Eclipse

Surprised nobody posted anything about it yet. I was lucky enough to be near totality (99.25% from the backyard)

I am 13 miles from dead center and it was much better than I expected. They have hyped the heck out of it around here but it was a cool experience. Might drive a lot of kids to go into science if they experienced it. That wouldn't be a bad thing for this country. If you ever get a chance to be in the totality zone it is well worth the time.

I heard on the radio today if you're in the path of totality, the eclipse shadow approaches super fast and looks like a dark storm front across the ground.  And when your in the shadow, you might see dancing light snakes on the ground and a 360 susnet effect - lots of weird optic effects I guess.

I was at almost 95%; I built a cereal box pinhole projector and looked at it.  Looked like a crescent-shaped sun.   What was weird here was not hearing any animal noises and there was no wind, just an eery calm.  Shadows seemed intense but the light looked thin somehow.

I'm thinking I should've gotten in the car and driven up to near Casper this morning.  They say once you experience it, you have to see it again.

This is truth.. Already looking for a the next one.. south america 2019.. haha

Saw total just south of Nashville.. I was/am blown away.. Was fk'n spectacular!

You're right about the sound as well.. I was in the city but all was quiet.. Did not really notice till after totality that I started hearing cicadas again... haha was odd

And the shadow bands on the ground right before and after.. was super odd looking!!

I was in 94.29% coverage.  We took a kitchen colander and had more  eclipseS  than moons in the solar system.

Cicada here were freaking out at the closest it got here. Was totally awesome, what little sunlight poking through cast a freaky dull light over everything. With a clear sky it gave a surreal feeling like being on a different planet

If I find a new hosting site I'll post the pics I took from start to onset

Those are great pics.
Like the colander
I saw the eclipse in UK.. Cornwall.. Feels like 10yrs ago but probably 20
The leaves/ trees  near us all acted like pinhole cameras and the ground was covered with projections of the eclipse
We camped out and a had a 3 day party
It was fun

I hung around a few days on my home from ND since I was crossing the path of the totality..........not a photographer by any means, but did get a few pics of the eclipse from start to right after the totality.
Never saw anything like it in my lifetime....
