Mouse/keyboard is the way to play shooters, hands down.
Personally I think it's entertaining as hell. It's early access so it can be glitchy with memory leaks, objects not loading sometimes, framerate hiccups, etc. But it's a free for all in a big map with 100 other players. You wind up dying a lot to bullets out of nowhere, but personally I like the fact that guns only take a few shots to kill you as opposed to some games.
If you want the game to be competitive, team based, have things fair, and assert your skill over others, CSGO might be more up your alley.
