I know when I came over from WBs I had to relearn a lot of details, but what ACM I had at the time for the most part worked.

Wiley.

Hehehe, when I first came over from Warbirds i jumped in my trusty 190A8 and encountered a group trying to take down a 262 whom decided to cut and run just as I was diving in, probably because he was out of ammo from killing so many before I got there. So I come whistling in and light him up with the taters and get my first kill, first kill mind you, and it's a 262.  I get the message "You have shot down Grizz".  I get a PM about 3 seconds later..."Zoney?   Zoney from Airwarrior?".

I should have quit right then and there.
Wag more, bark less.

Depends who, depends how.  20 guys who are active, fly planes, on the other team, and playing when I am would greatly improve my game experience.

But that could require much more than 20 additional subscribers.  :old:

Absolutely, to achieve it on a consistent daily basis.  But if it was the right guys, it might only take 40 or 50 of them to come back.

The list's different for everybody, but there are those people you noticed you ran into most times you played until they left.

You would not be able to notice 40 guys coming back in arena counts.

You're right over time.  But depending who it was, it is quite possible they'd show up as more planes in the air at the times I'm playing.

Nope not "QUITE" possible I.E. Probable. It is very very very improbable.

Guys that are in the same time zone that fly aircraft exclusively and happen to log in at similar times?  Probability of all 40 of them being on at once?  Probability of them noticeably affecting the arena count?  You're right, extremely low.

Probability of there being enough of them to make a noticeable difference in aircraft in the air at times when there are few aircraft in the air?  Not 0.

When I can finally have some time to play, it's already between 11:00 pm and 12:00 am on the west coast.  Aside from those who don't sleep at night, there would be players from Asian countries showing up if they play during the day.  When I signed up again several months ago there were usually only about 20-30 people in the MA at those times (I think).  Some of them apparently wanted to avoid contact (the same nap-of-the-earth flying I remember they like to do) and capture bases unopposed.  Are there at least 100 or so on now during those hours?  If Axis vs Allies is completely empty late nights that is a bummer.

No.
That would be a freakin' paradise, which would us see getting close to the record numbers AH once ago had for some time.

However, 40-60 gives you much more combat opportunities than the 20 before.

The numbers would go up a lot if all the guys who are wringing their hands about the numbers being too low for them to start playing again would just start playing again.

Be the change you want to see in the world.
This. The amount of old players who say they don't play the game because the numbers are too low make me laugh.

Overall numbers are a result of collective actions, but I only have control over my individual ones.
Wether I play or not is an individual action and makes no impact by large. I was flying here for many years, while the numbers went steadily down. Apparently my individual decision to play made no difference. But I had less and less fun in an ever less populated arena. Up to one point where I had to make another individual decision about it.

Correct. Guys like 0Rick who would sometimes play 18 hours a day are definitely noticeable when present/absent during these times.    It doesn't take many to make a difference off-peak.

In european time zones 30 players online was common when I got home from work last year. I don't know what the numbers are like nowadays because I tend to log on early evening.

In general, the numbers could be broken down like this (these are broad approximations):

1/3 are on my team= 20 players to fight.

1/3 may be in tower = 14 players to fight.

1/2 of those may be fighting the other country = 7 players to fight.

1/3 of those may be in gvs = 5 enemy aircraft to fight.

The may help people who struggle to comprehend why someone may not find it enjoyable to play with low numbers.
