You know that cliffs is one time fee and  war thunder is free  with grind to win or pay to win.

There needs something more to be done in regards to subscription to have also more players today.

This isn't IL2...This isn't war thunder.... It isn't gonna be like those games either

If you want your friends to play for free create a free custom arena and let them play for free with you...

If you want your friends to play for free create a free custom arena and let them play for free with you...

In European 'daytime' at least (can't really comment about US 'primetime'), they don't really work. Usually only one person in to keep the arena open. Or they are password protected (with 2-4 inside). It is commonly this way. In the MA this afternoon (for me) there were 19 players in the MA (for at least the hour I checked). There was one in the TA during this time (although not actually flying).

While I don't agree with Nuget's apparent wish to turn AH into whatever other games he favours, I do wish ways could be found to permit gameplay in some people's primetime.

Not a very American-centred observation, I know. But AH numbers are shocking for some of us.

To compare the numbers that  nugetx experienced when he posted at 3:17 AM EDT U.S. time

I logged in right around/before 7 AM EDT U.S. this morning and there were 24 players playing...

Within roughly 30 minutes +/-, the numbers playing in the MA had climbed to pushing nearly 60 people playing in the MA...

That is just for the MA, their were others playing in the WWI arena and some in custom player made/hosted Arenas....

Wish I could have stayed, but I was already an hour late getting to previous scheduled plans

The numbers sure looks like they are improving!

I think I have observed the pattern that there is a minimum core number which causes the numbers to grow fast. Be nice if a way could be found to encourage them to stay at a certain minimum level.

P51B...lack of guns alone will make anyone interested in the dogfight want the 6 guns but it is good enough to handle the MA fight to include bombs....the free tank would have to be the Panzer H.

Risky gamble....how many players who play now would be like F it I'm not paying $15 when I can play in here for free. -1

I had the 8 Player arena and it hooked me after a few weeks.  I loved those.  Instant action.  That system might work better than just a single free ride would because it lets the new player try them all out.

Yes, that is a good term for it.

There are exactly 40 players now, and this would be prime time for my time of playing..... not exactly encouraging.

There could have been 41 players. The problem isn't with the game.

I have always said you get what you pay for. If you are strictly a free player you are going to move from game to game and never get good at any of them.
People will find a way to pay for what they really want be it a new phone, sneakers, or whatever.

Steam will help find those players that will invest to be part of this experience and the game will reward them unlike anything they have encountered.

To be here we all have invested more than the $14.99 a month.

There were plenty of good sticks in the 8 player arenas.  I'm sure some were not paying.

You're right. There was a bunch of Finns I know of practicing to be good enough not to be laughed away from the Main Arena. Many of us were invited by Kanttori who had tried the game for some weeks. I registered my GameID on September 23rd 2001 and activated my paid subscription on January 9th 2002.

I still have the early emails saved. Among those I found the H2H arena rules for our training sessions:
Quote
Type Finns Only in the arena description to keep all slots to our own group. If some unknown pops in, politely ask him to leave a couple of times. If that doesn't help, combine your forces and kill him continuously until he leaves. If nothing of the above helps, use the .eject <playerID>. The eject command should be used cautiously and only when nothing else helps.

There used to be some extraordinarily beautiful maps, both strategically and landscape wise.
Quote from: BaldEagl, applies to myself, too
I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

I think a free plane in the MA is a good idea.. that would be a way bigger hook set than the old h2h days.

Maybe it could be rotated?  I-16, p40 type of planes.

Rotated might be interesting...  It doesn't even have to be a low end plane.  I think the best hook would be something from midwar.  Carry a little ord, have decent guns, just can't run from the late war stuff.  I wouldn't give them something like the pony or we'd likely lose about 1/3 of our subs overnight. ;)

If you think you are having a 1v1 in the Main Arena, your SA has failed you.

I was kind of hoping that all these weeks of nugetx was not going to come to this. Sadly all he ever wanted was Hitech to put AH3 on Steam and make it a full time free to play so he wouldn't have to spend any money on a subscription.
