It reminded me of something I had way back when I was a kid. Now it's true, no one would think match up of the Spitfire MkI against a Me262 would be fun.
Or would they?Apparently the plastic model company Revell thought it was a good matchup. I submit exhibit A (one of the first model kits I bought):
Crazy huh? This match up problem existed even before there were computer games! Of course, as a kid I didn't know any better and I'm sure in my dogfights the Spit always sent the 262 down in flames.
Here's a couple more kits I owned as a kid, also from Revell's "Fighting Deuces" series (each kit contained parts for both aircraft pictured, but these are more evenly matched fighting pairs):
Boy, that brings back memories of a simpler time! But its a lot more fun the way we play nowadays.
For those of you old enough to remember, here are the other "Deuces" kits I found, reflecting Revell's idea of a good match-up. I really enjoyed the box art:
