881 NAS Wildcat Mk VI
« on: September 08, 2017, 12:59:16 PM »
Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin.

This 881 NAS Fleet Air Arm Wildcat Mk VI was based on the escort carrier HMS Pursuer in August 1944. It featured a red nose ring as Mediterranean theater ID and a sword and shield carrying rabbit as nose art. At this time Pursuer was part of an Allied task force supporting Operation Dragoon, the invasion of southern France. Prior to this Pursuer and 881 NAS had taken part in the Tirpitz raids off Norway and the Normandy invasion, as well as providing air cover for numerous convoys.

The Wildcat Mk VI was essentially the same as the GM-built FM-2. Unlike the FAA's Grumman-built Wildcats these were not painted in FAA colours but in the nearest US equivalent shades; olive drab, sea gray and light gray.

Very Nice! <S>
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!
