The Vermont Air National Guard is holding a pilot selection board in December of this year.  We'll be selecting three or four individuals to attend undergraduate pilot training (UPT).  Time frame for UPT is summer of 01 at the earliest through late 02 class dates.

The VTANG flies F-16 fighter aircraft (block 25's) in both air to air and air to ground missions.  We're looking for candidates who have alot of aviation interest (matches those of you who read this forum) and aptitude (also matches).  Having ties to the Northeast U.S. helps since historically that means people stay in the local area (and unit) longer.

You need to have (or soon to get) a college degree.  If you are interested in applying, we'd need: resume, letters of reference, college transcripts and Air Force Officer Qualification Test (AFOQT) scores.  The AFOQT can be scheduled through any local recruiter.

Time frame for this information is mid summer so we can sort through the applications and select 20 or so for a final interview.

If you have any questions, e-mail me at douglas.fick@vtburl.ang.af.mil or mail me at 108 NCO Drive, South Burlington, VT 05403 ATTN: LTC Doug Fick.

If you think AH is great (and it is!), you gotta see the real thing.

Hey Vyper they still have the under 30 (at one point it was under 26 in my Gaurd unit), and 20/20 vision requirements? If so that would disqualify about 3/4 the people on this board

Gawd, wouldn't I have killed to do this. Too bad I am blind as a bat, and later found I was diabetic which bought me a quick medical discharge.

I think we may have a slot open and I recall the 108th having some aircrew openings as well.  What do you do up there vyper?

Glacey,

Dang it, you made me launch my soda through my nose when I read your post!

Fun fighting with you last night.  We had some good engagements going on.

Yeah, the age waiver would be a bit tough and being British would mess up our accounting and finance office something fierce.  They just can't do that 'pound' thing!

Hey Crash,

I'd heard from Cos (LTC Mike Cosby) that you'd be hiring a few full time and part time billets soon.

I'm the Operations Officer and will be moving into the Air Operations Officer (basically the full time OG supporting our part time OG (double slot)) this summer.

Take care and see you online.

Citabria,

Aviators are required to give much more than the one weekend a month.  To gain proficiency, new pilots work with the unit full time for the first two years after initial training.  Then they have to make themselves available to fly on about five days a month in addition to the drill weekend.

Saintaw,

Although it is a bit cramped in the F-16, the stewardess' service cart still holds a wide array of beverages and snacks

They sure do get mad when I unload for a ridge crossing though!

was a bit of dry humor I guess Vyper

my AFOQT pilot score 91 was Sierra Hotel.
left AFROTC instead of contracting as POC though after I went full time into civilian flight training.
Soon to be aerobatics instructor in pitts s2c

Lackland was fun though
they gave us all a nice T-shirt after 4 weeks of it
I hear the walk in off the street OTS guys go through 12 weeks or somthing like that so I guess the ROTC guys have it easy.

cheers

Also, I have somewhere a wav file of an F16 pilot who just ch***t on himself & is not happy about it
