Buzz Saw Map
« on: September 13, 2017, 05:51:22 AM »
Can we please get rid of this stupid xbox map already.  I thought this was supposed to be a WWII sim game.  This is the worst map that has ever been on the game in the last 10 years.  Numbers suck already.  Lot of people log on see this stupid map and log off.

Waffle did me a great service by how bad buzzsaw is, then making adjustments to it inspired by player feed back. Gave me more insight into how players utilize the environment from their complaints. If you ask players to tell you what they think will make a good terrain, it will be a disaster because it will end up a Frankenstein by a committee of blind sculptors. If you read their conversations about how they use different terrains and their complaints, that is the truth of what they are looking for. Those become your guidelines as you setup the environment. Then what the terrain looks like won't matter. Right now I have the problem that shore battery guns shoot 18miles while my feilds are mostly 19miles. I have to get creative with this last phase of setting up shore battery's and PT spawns. There are 6 feilds in the center that I have to worry about. And that will be a lesson Haggerty will have to learn about.

 Haggerty,

Terrains for the Melee arena will do everything they can to beat your brain to a pulp, depress you, and make you want to quit. Better get started so you can at least go through the learning curve. Easyscor will help you but, your imagination is all that will sustain you while it will lead you to some stark truths about the real limitations of the terrain editor application. For airfields, think in terms of triangles of association to other airfields. And for GV activity, use a stop watch and drive your assumptions along with being free and loose with painting grass to open up areas. Tankers in this game want their cake, eat it, and be able to throw it at other tankers. They want trees to hide in but, they want to see for miles at the same time without being lost in the trees. Three miles is about it for a tankers transit patience these days, while it makes M3's a target if you are paying attention. I'm testing the new bridges on this terrain, you will get to see how that works out and decide for your future terrain production avalanche we all will be looking forward to.

Almost there with this one to pester Hitech into taking a look at it for rotation. I know he has better things to do with his time, so I still have the grand tour of upping from every airfield in a plane, spawning every spawn and testing every task group. At least at this point it has passed the error checker for uploading to the Host. Did I tell anyone again how much I hate creating mountain ranges? I'm still thinning the tops of the ranges on the blue country's islands. That's another one for you Haggerty, it gets away from you in the terrain editor. What you think last month when you put in all the mountains was a good standard for all of the terrain, sucks big time the moment you put down a few airfields and start moving around in your new universe. In the terrain editor you are a 50,000ft giant building a universe, while in the same terrain offline, you are a flea wondering how you got the scale so wrong. Don't be afraid to revisit the whole terrain to fix things like that. If it looks clunky to you in offline mode, it will look clunky to other players respective to the limitations of the terrain editor. The terrain editor will not make some things look good and those you just live with.

You want garbage, try building a terrain and going through what you are doing to Waffle. They are boxes of chocolates, you never really know what you are getting until you get into the box and look around. By that point everyone with an AX to grind gets to kick you for your reward. I feel sorry for anyone who wants to stick his hand in that grinder trying to do something for our community. You don't see a lot of terrain builders letting you know who they are in these forums, do you...

Why not build your terrain and show Waffle and the rest of us a "not garbage terrain"? Otherwise, it's a craps game and the dice have really strange effects on otherwise nice people in this community I've come to experience. You have not lived until someone decides to tell you everything wrong with your terrain after an hour of playing on it. Following you around to make sure you hear every single thing he decided is wrong with it. While appearing to try and convince you to ask Hitech to delete it from rotation or admit you are some kind of a game killing monster for reasons I could not fathom. Or people knowing you built the terrain blaming you for things beyond your control that they won't report in the Bug forum after you politely listen to them to understand if it's a bug or I really goofed up. And Hitech eventually fixed what they were saying was my fault and they have forgotten they ripped me a new one over game bugs. It is a very strange dice game building terrains, and none of the resident experts passing judgment will show us the right way to build a perfect Melee arena terrain. Gotta wear titanium underwear building terrains.

Easyscor will be happy to hook you up and get you going on your perfect AH3 Melee arena terrain. He can probably recommend a good brand of titanium underwear. It will be nice to have someone else taking flak over a terrain, I feel sorry for Waffle some days. He was trying to do a good deed for the community, then did what they asked once again and modified the terrain. What's that old saying about good deeds......

the map itself isnt terrible, its the strat placements that need to be fixed.  When the map starts and vehicles are already in your strats, thats bad design.  When you go to bomb them, they tower and come back when you RTB.

The map is not trash please leave it in rotation. The whiners that log off because of this map is the only ones missing out on fun. it is so much easier to blame the map then it is them self for not having fun.  be glad you got a map to play on.   Thanks for your time making the map waffle

No no.  You're supposed to get into a tank and go get into their strats.  Allegedly it is fun.

dang it bustr, must you always bring your maps into an OP's conversation, yes we know you build maps-Bowlma was a good one except the lack of Shore BAtteries-the ease at which a BattleShip can destroy SB's-

The map shown is an example of what I don’t understand about the maps. How can GV’s spawn on another island across open water? You should first have to establish a foothold on that island then be able to spawn at will on that island.

I don't even need to tower. The new terrain combined with the clipboard hostiles detector is great for annoying people, I tried it.
You go to the edge of the strats and start to take down buildings from under some trees. You keep an eye on the clipboard and once the landing button turns red you simply go into hiding. That way you detect an enemy tank long before you even can hear him incoming.
Now it's extremely difficult for anyone to find you. You can go for a coffee while keeping the factory flashing. At some point nobody will care about that anyore, the button is green and you can happily decimate the buildings again.

Players looking for players without engaging in combat. Actual GV combat has become a rarity compared to AH2.
