CH Pro Throttle Controller Input Erattic
« on: October 07, 2017, 12:37:17 PM »
I have said usb throttle and cannot get controller input to less than an 877 value.  The input always goes to 65535 on one end but ranges to a low off 877 to about 11000 on the other end. I cannot get it to a zero value. Because the low end is for full throttle and because of the wonky values I often cannot engage wep.

I have calibrated it under advanced settings. There is no scaling, deadband or damping used. The raw & scaled slider does show a lot of erratic input around the center of the range of movement.

Bottom line: The throttle itself is most likely in need of repair. I can take it apart and attempt to repair it but tips on the procedure would be greatly appreciated. Or any other thoughts.

                               Thanks...Av8.

Also calibrate it in Windows.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

More often than the erratic signal from the stick is coming from the source, the pots. They get dirty or worn in one area and you'll get odd results when the stick travels in those directions. Getting at the pot involves removing the little rubber bumpers on the bottom to expose some Phillips screws. The bottom cover holds a cradle together that holds the pot. Slip it off and the pot will come out. It's attached with little spade connectors. Keep track of which colors go on which post. Once the pot is out, spray it with some contact cleaner while moving it back and forth. That should do it. If you really wanted to get ugly you could bend the little tabs open and take the pot apart. I've done that a couple of times.

Looking forward to my new controllers that will have hall effect sensors. Contactless-- so nothing to gunk up. All this will be a thing of the past!
