Well, as I said, all I'm addressing was the suggestion to completely kill the mouseover icon player identifier. I have no opinion one way or the other as to the wingman thing.
Since I primarily fly bombers, and I often see bombers ahead of me perhaps heading to the same target, I find it very helpful to know who that pilot is so that I can contact them to see what they're hitting or which side of a target they're dropping on. Same question is often asked of me if I happen to be the first one there.
Another time mouseover comes in handy is when you have squadmates identified by a colored icon and they are separated on the map. I can see it's a squadmate, but without mouseover I can't tell who's who. Yes, I could ask, but the mouseover comes in handy so I don't have to.
For these reasons, I'd like to see it stay the way it is.
