CH Control Manager

So I have a full CH set and haven't had any real issues until now with them. I think it has something to do with the control manager because my computer shows the devices plugged in, but the control manager will be unresponsive when I go to calibrate them. A few weeks ago I was having a problem where I would be able to calibrate them in the control manager, then when I got online they were showing in the controllers....but I couldn't get any axis or button to respond even after I calibrated in game as well. I can uninstall and reinstall the control manager with my controllers plugged in and it works for at least one session but that's pretty annoying to do just to play Aces High.

If anyone has had similar issues or has any ideas I'd appreciate it....

I finally ditched it after many years. Started having issues and from advice from others and reading a few things it is a problem. Just mapped everything in game and made a backup of my settings.

I am sure some others here could give the technical details of the problems with it.

If you've changed usb ports the manager may lose them. I found a solution on the CH hangar forums years ago. There's a program that runs briefly at startup that will find them that avoids this. Not at my PC just now but something wants to tell me it's called Jstart.

But that may not be your problem. The CH stuff wants to be calibrated from within the manager if it's installed. In order to do that you have to turn off the mapping or you can't do anything. At the top of the manager you'll see three buttons. The left one turns off the mapping. Hit that and you'll be able to calibrate.  Once done turn it back on and off you go.

Hopefully I'll be saying sayonara to the manager in a couple of weeks when I get my VKB grip and complete my gunfighter stick. I still have the CH throttle tho. The VKB software is hyper configurable. I've been leafing through the 98 page (really) manual for that! Might be time to fiddle with the AH key mapper!

If AH is the only game you're using your CH gear with, how about forgetting about the control manager altogether and use the calibration and mapping tools featured in both Windows and AH only? I must admit I'm not familiar with the control manager, it may have features you really like. If not, then the less steps you have between your CH and computer the better. As Frodo said, in game mapping is fine and having a backup copy of your settings is good practice.

Especially the updates of Win10 tend to end any co-operation between the OS and third party hardware applications. Just as an example, the HDD accelerator program by HP was updated for the Creator Update earlier this year and now it's incompatible with the Fall Creator Update. CH is a much smaller actor in this game so keeping up with the constant changes of the OS can't be expected. So keep it simple, son. KISS is still a valid method.

That's right I forgot reading there were folks that had issues with it and Win10. Could be that too.

CH manager and win10 plus all its aggravating updates that break one thing and fix another   can both take a long walk off a short pier!!     

luckily its behaving this week and ive shut down all updates.

I use CH Pro pedals, Fighterstick, & Throttle.  As per Frodo's and Bizman's approach, I also do not use the CH manager and simply use the AH3 calibration and mapping tools, and have had very few issues.  Works fine, I rarely need to recalibrate.  If for some reason I unplug all my USB connections, eg puter upgrade, etc.  my system does not seem to care which ports the controllers are plugged into.  The CH stuff has been trouble-free without using the CH manager.
