sound goes wacko after plane damaged
« on: October 15, 2017, 02:17:27 AM »
This happens all the time to me, in some planes all it takes is to look straight up. My system settings for sound have no post processing.

Sounds goes goofy and breaks up, etc.

Edited film but the sound problem went away in edited version so here's full version.

Play attached film starting after 39:20. Sound goes wacko after B17 shoots my plane.

I'm somewhat perplexed: Do you really use your TV speakers through HDMI for all audio and not using any microphone? That's how I read your DxDiag output, then again I may have missed something.

Anyway, if the above is the real situation, you have drivers for Asus Xonar audio. If the device is disabled, you might also want to remove the drivers just in case.

Been bugging me for a while too but thought I'd add my experience. Flying a 38 most of the time my sound gets buggy/jerky when I have damaged engines or when there seems to be a lot of explosions around. Like it starts cut   cut    cut   cutting out. Last night I was RTB with a pair of damaged engines and once #2 died I only had the normal single engine damage sound.

The look up view distorts the sound in radial-engined planes.  It has since beta.  At least it has on my computer.
I have also experienced bad chopping and distortion when getting engine damage, but it's been intermittent.

Try updating your audio drivers. Hopefully this site is for your model, however double check: http://support.creative.com/downloads/welcome.aspx?nDriverType=1#type_1

For the drivers you're using: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_devices-insiderplat_pc/51-surround-is-not-working-as-it-should-on/cfaaadf3-5c0d-42a2-a52e-29accaf0a8c2?auth=1 tells they're problematic...
Biz, I'm running the latest driver that supports Win7, circa 2014 tho. There's only one newer but it's Win10 only.

I'm not running a 5.1 arrangement and that's the problem being described in that other link. I'm only using stereo speakers but always just  headphones when flying.

I don't recall this always happening in AH3. Seems like for a few months only. I know my card is kinda long in the tooth but it was the kickarse card of its day. And I really like the front panel I have for it too. There's gonna come a time for a new one. This guy has spanned a couple of different machines so I don't owe it anything. Hate to ditch it if the problem is something else. Sound is otherwise completely normal other than when multiple damage and explosion sounds are playing.

Alright, I told you to double check. I found two different drivers by the information you gave. You apparently have the X-Fi Xtreme Music since the drivers you have say that "Do not install this driver for Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio". For some reason the link I provided shows those.

For the X-Fi Xtreme Audio version there's other drivers: http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=1&CatName=Sound+Blaster&prodID=16770&prodName=PCI+Express+X-Fi+Xtreme+Audio. Those are what I found using the Hardware ID code you provided.

So much for the reliability of searching by Hardware ID codes...
