A question for all of you dedicated AH pilots.  I haven't flown AH much of late.
I've been struggling with trying to figure out why I like the AH "feel" better than other sims, yet I don't like AH as well overall. Feature-wise it's great.

So this weekend I did some goofing around trying different things and playing with custom sounds.  Trying different engine sounds and even making a couple custom ones of my own.  Suddenly it hit me like the .50's of a Hog...

I REALLY hate not having the engine RPM increase or decrease like you hear in brand W when diving or climbing or whatever speed changes you make.

Has Pyro or HT commented on implementing this, and if so, when they might implement it?

Thanks!

Hobo

Note:  This is NOT intended to pit AH against brand W or ANY other sim.  I'm seriously interested in this because for me it is a MAJOR immersion factor.

Hobo, the WB sound is not realistic.  These planes all had constant-speed props.  RPM should not change unless you are at a very low power setting (like on the ground) or you have exceeded the maximum safe dive speed.

So for me it is a major immersion factor that the RPM does not change in an unrealistic manner like WB.

If you need a sound cue to indicate airspeed, try jacking up the wind sound volume.  Even better, open up the "wind.wav" file in Windows sound recorder, increase the volume 5-8 times, and save it.  That worked for me.

Although it seems wind is linked to TAS, not IAS.

wind would be better linked to IAS and if it came in at a lower airspeed or was always there, just very soft.
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

I tried the regular wind.wav file and the Hog one suggested by Weazel.  I like the FTB's wind.wav file best. But they both seem to be too quiet (max'd it out in WIN98 and AH) and don't play at low speeds (which they prolly shouldn't if we are speaking realistically).

I'm going to spend some time fiddling with different sounds to see if I can get a sound that is more comfortable for me.  It prolly won't be "real" but I think it will be helpful for me and my bad habits.
