Vehicle cargo and troops depicted
« on: November 03, 2017, 08:48:25 AM »
It's a small detail, but I think it'd fill a graphic hole and add a lot, if its not too much trouble.   I'd like to be able to see what I'm carrying in vehicles.   For example, no matter what I'm carrying, the current rear view in the M3 looks like this:

But if I'm carrying troops in an M3, when I look back from the driver's seat I'd like to see something like this instead:

I'd also like to be able to see them exit as I drop them off.   And it'd be great if the contents could also be apparent in external view, so I could see the troops or crates carried by a vehicle as it speeds by or as I pass over it in a Storch or ground attack aircraft.

EDIT: Would also be cool if the Sd.Kfz could carry German-uniformed troops.

Cool wish that isn't needed.

This would be of more value in advertising and filming than it would in-game in my opinion... Plus it seems to be alot of work for a "paint job" of eye candy.

I may be missing something, but why do you want to see a box in the back? or 10 boxes of vehicle supplies....

Even though it's a cool wish, I think there's more value in placing parked aircraft on the field to "vultch" alongside the field ack..

BUt that's what's cool about wishes, everyone can have them!  :salute

Totally agree, Dubious - it's not really needed.   Just a minor wish.  It just surprised me one day looking in the back of my M3 and seeing the empty view, and it's been in the back of my mind since then.   Today I mashed up some screenshots to illustrate what I had in mind.

My answer to why I'd want to see them is because if I loaded them in the hangar, it seems like they should be present in any views where they would appear - not unlike expecting to see bombs or drop tanks hanging off your aircraft's wing hard-points, if you had selected them in the hangar.   I'm not sure what the game design term for that concept is - logical continuity?

I've also seen empty M3s speeding along from ambush vantage points and have been curious to know whether troops or vehicle supplies were being carried.   Many (most?) times its obvious by the direction of travel and who owns the town, but the extra detail would still be cool if the change didn't impact frame rates or production schedules too much.

Wanting German uniformed troops in the SdKfz could just be mild OCD.

I'm a big fan of the idea of parked aircraft also, and agree completely about the added value to advertising/filming.

:salute

EDIT: A correction to my first post- if you carry the 75mm gun, the rear view shows the gun mount/base, not the empty view of the back end.

For me, it's like not lighting the candles on a birthday cake. You look at the cake, and it's like something is missing, and then you forget about the purpose of what you're doing.

Adding German OR US troops in the back of our vehicles we're hauling would be a nice feature to 'lite the candles on the cake'.

It could serve a purpose, for sure. It might cut down on the instances that you are bringing the wrong thing? Now, its never happened too me, but I see the plus side :O :uhoh Well if you look backwards and drive from the gunners spot! Not sure though, I have never done that...BUT if I did, it could help :devil

lol  Why are people even trying to flame this wish?
What's the big deal if you look behind and see what you are carrying?
Really, people have a problem with this?
Whatever...

I might as well add this little wish here too - I'd love it if HTC enabled the Opel Blitz as a drivable vehicle, and made that be the only ground vehicle that can deliver field supplies.  If we're gonna drive trucks and deliver cargo we might as well look the part.   Its such a cool external model, too.   Makes we wsh we still had the manual shifting in GVs...

Limit it to 35-40 mph when loaded, to help make C-47 air cargo a little more viable as an alternative to GV resupply.  And I'd like those beautiful headlights to be fully functional for night deliveries!
