I used to, but I uninstalled it.  The in-game overlay would cause serious graphical glitches in AH.
I'm using MSI Afterburner now and have no issues.

+1 for MSI Afterburner.  I have primarily Asus and eVGA cards, never owned an MSI card, but it seems that their GPU management software is the "standard" most of the reviewers/tech sites/etc all use.  I recently tried the Asus Strix software....went back to AB pretty quickly after that misadventure.

While you're baking your next pie, install Afterburner, and just roll with that.  You'll be able to push that 1060 OC beyond the factory "OC" a fair bit still most likely.

I'll give a +1 to afterburner as well. First management type program I've used (I only use it to control fan speed and monitor cpu/gpu usage and temps). Very simple to use and does what I want from it

How would you overclock a video card with Afterburner? Do you just bump up the core clock, memory clock? How do you know you hit the sweet spot? Do you bump up the voltage? Mines greyed out, how do you clear that? I have a GTX 670 and just want to get a bit more out of it until Xmas when I hope Santa is bringing me a 1060   :devil

Of the sites I've looked at they seem to be put out by techies for other techies.

Some cards it won't let you unlock the voltage. It won't on my 1060 either. I've used afterburner for a few years to overclock my cards. It's not so technical that you need an engineering degree to do it! But you will need some time and patience. A notebook to record your settings from run to run is a good idea. I've been using the unigine benchmarks, Superposition is the latest. I max out the benchmark settings and start bumping up the settings in AB in baby steps. Record the settings, FR and temps from run to run. Eventually you're gonna start to see glitches, lines, or pauses. At that point you're at the edge of your card's envelope. Back your AB settings off a few notches for safety and you should be good to go. I'd tell you what my settings are but that may be useless to you as your card and system and cooling will be different from mine.

What will it do for AHIII?

I now have every now and then a frame freeze just one or two.

First thing i am going to do is take off Itunes and all its gibberish and sniff round for non essential bits of sofrware.

I have bought some 5.1 speakers which are plugged into sound blaster sound card. ( my mrs says its to loud so thats a result)

Not a good thing getting two new bits of kit at the same time :)

I use it the same way as EskimoJoe described above.  I set a custom fan profile, monitor the GPU/CPU Temps-Percentage used and frame rates.
I have the On-Screen-Display set to toggle on or off while in the game.
I don't overclock my card, but I'm quite certain some folks do.

Best thing to do IMO is just take your 1060 model, plug that into Google along with "overclock settings", and you'll get a phone book of good answers.  Just copy the settings of a moderate profile in MSI Afterburner someone else has already posted, and run some benchmarks from the above mentioned programs to test it for stability.  Nobody is forcing you to shoot the moon with the highest oc settings ever, even a moderate overclock can produce some decent gains, I tend to go right between moderate and a "high" overclock on most of my cards, and haven't cooked one yet.  Same with the fan profile, just take some examples from others online and test it yourself, you can adjust it for noise/performance from there for yourself.

From a moderate OC, if you're wanting more, as already stated, get a pad of paper and a pen, and take down numbers as you very gradually increase your settings until you start to get instability problems, weird desktop behavior, artifacts, etc.  Then back off and test and retest on the previous settings.  You'll find where your particular card works best in an hour or two usually.  If you don't want the slight risk, or have the time/patience, again, just go with a middle of the road OC, and it'll work fine without tweaking/testing usually.

edit - Hey Zach, did you happen to get the Creative SB AE-5 card?  It's the one with the pretty pretty RGB lights, been considering it for an everything RGB build (like you, my missus has been critical of some things "PC gamer-ish), and hates RGB and calls it effeminate names, so I'm upgrading her PC with as much RGB as I can find, including the CPU h20 cooler, and now the sound card too).  Just like to know if it's decent or not, if that's the one you got, as it's their most recent.

I'll consider a SB card myself maybe, running Sh1it DAC/AMP right now, but wouldn't mind more desk space than buying more of those.

You can set up to 5 profiles in afterburner. I use 5 as my max testing profile but never generally use it for other than that. My 4th profile is the one I'll use for gaming. It's still pretty high but bumped down several notches from the 5th. The 1st being stock settings, which I have set to enable at startup. Changing profiles is easy as clicking that button once you've set one up. Afterburner is a tweaker's delight. Lots of settings to play around with and lots of things to monitor while you're tweaking.

Do you use DX9 or Dx11, Zack ?
When I fly AH  DX11 freezes happens, but never in DX9.
My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.
