That plane was done by Rogerdee, who is no longer active in the game. Your best bet is to ask Greebo very nicely to adopt the skin and redo it from the ground up.

I'll do it if you can find a decent RL photo of the plane. I hate skinning just from second hand sources like models or profiles.

This version has a white nose and supposedly blue canopy...

It is possible both versions of the aircraft are correct, it could have had its white stripes and cowl repainted at some point or a replacement aircraft was painted with the same art. This would presumably have been in 1945 since Lyric's photo shows half D Day stripes and so was taken in late 1944. However to do a skin like that I'd want some sort of proof that the blue stripes and cowl existed in RL, if not a photo at least a book reference. As it is I'd be fine with making a skin that matched the photos, with a white cowl and stripes, half D Day stripes and a blue cockpit.

I have ordered the book referenced in the links its the best bet I believe.

Indeed.

I'm reminded of the two ME 262's used by Rudi Sinner in Jg 7. One is very well documented and the other much less so. The markings are exact with the only noticable difference being that the camouflage stripes are slanted in opposite directions front to back.

The well known example:

The lesser known one:

As for the original post and the model.  I believe the modeler saw the unpainted jugs from the 405th and thought the black ID band on the nose was blue and gave it to the OD bird.  As with any of the fighters coming to the ETO, they were given white noses and ID bands for the OD/Gray birds and Black noses and ID bands for the NMF birds.  It was at the group or squadron level that it was sometimes changed, but I'd assume in the field in  France during the fighting  there probably wasn't a ton of time to add color noses.  I think the white scheme is the accurate one.

After going back through some of my books it looks like the coloured markings are a fact on this group.

Couple more of the nose art of the plane.

Couple of colour nose art pics from this group.

The clincher this black and white 405th Razorback image also shows the tail stripe and canopy and nose have all been repainted to squadron colours.

That's really good information Lyric and I feel happier about skinning the blue version of the skin now, although a photo of it in that scheme would be ideal.

I will ask Skuzzy to transfer the orphaned skin to me.
